Sticking with San Fran
The 49ers activated Harrell (undisclosed) from the practice squad COVID-19 list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The 49ers then signed Harrell to a reserve/future deal, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. As an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas, Harrell spent much of the 2020 campaign on San Francisco's practice squad.

Cut from SF's practice squad
Harrell was cut from San Francisco's practice squad Wednesday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports San Francisco reports.
Analysis: San Francisco has three healthy tight ends on its roster and just designated starter George Kittle to return from IR, so the team no longer views Harrell as necessary emergency depth. Harrell will hope to latch on with another team's practice squad or roster.

Suspension lifted by commissioner
Chase was removed from suspension Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: The Arkansas product served a six-game suspension for violation of the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but he is now able to return as a member of San Francisco's practice squad. Harrell has not yet seen the field in his rookie campaign, but with George Kittle (foot) having shifted to injured reserve Nov. 5, he may get an opportunity down the stretch should the 4-5 49ers fall out of contention completely.
