Quiet in second pro season
Sims caught 27 of 37 targets for 265 yards and a touchdown in 12 regular-season games during the 2020 campaign.
Analysis: Sims opened the year as Washington's No. 2 wide receiver, after scoring four TDs over the final three weeks of his 2019 rookie campaign. The team even experimented with giving him more snaps on the perimeter at the beginning of the season, but Sims moved back to the slot after a toe injury sent him to IR for Weeks 4-8. He then averaged just 3.2 targets and 18.0 receiving yards over his final nine games of the regular season, before catching three passes for 33 yards and a TD in the playoff loss…read more

Targeted six times
Sims caught four of six targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 20-13 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: Sims handled a larger-than-usual role with Terry McLaurin (ankle) inactive, but it was Cam Sims who led the team's wideouts with nine targets. Any fantasy upside for Steven in Week 17 depends on McLaurin missing another game, which won't necessarily happen.

Pulls down one pass
Sims secured one of two targets for 11 yards during Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: The Kansas product has collected exactly one reception in three of his past four outings. Sims' only multi-catch performance in that span, Week 13 against Pittsburgh, yielded just 17 yards. Terry McLaurin (12 targets) and Cam Sims (eight) were the wideouts most involved in Washington's passing game against Seattle, while Steven (no relation) finished tied in a distant third in targets alongside Isaiah Wright. With nearly as many punt returns (21) as receptions (22) this season, Sims has a…read more

Catches one pass
Sims caught one of three targets for five yards in Sunday's 23-15 win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Cam Sims and Terry McLaurin both played more than 90 percent of snaps, while Steven Sims got 37 percent and Isaiah Wright took 27 percent . None of the bunch had more than two catches or 24 yards, as Alex Smith (calf) and Dwayne Haskins both struggled to get anything going. Washington won the game behind two defensive touchdowns, a formula that probably won't work in Week 15 against Seattle. Expect more of a contribution from the Washington passing offense in that contest, but this Sims isn't…read more

Pulls down four passes in upset
Sims secured four of six targets for 17 yards during Monday's 23-17 win against the Steelers. He also posted a nine-yard punt return.
Analysis: Sims may have been held under 20 receiving yards for a third consecutive appearance, but his nine-yard third-down catch on Washington's opening drive of the second half helped situate the team for a touchdown that brought it within four points. Since returning from a toe injury Week 9, the 23-year-old has posted 2.8 receptions and 17.6 receiving yards per game with one TD over five appearances. Sims' six targets Monday tied a season high as he heads into a Week 14 matchup against San Francisco.

Posts one catch on Thanksgiving
Sims reeled in his lone target for an eight-yard gain during Thursday's 41-16 win over the Cowboys. He added 15 yards on a pair of punt returns.
Analysis: Sims secured his first touchdown of the 2020 campaign in Week 11 against Cincinnati, but it was a forgettable outing on Thanksgiving for the 23-year-old. He's been back in the lineup for four games after sitting out four contests with a toe injury between Weeks 4 and 7. The Kansas product has accumulated an efficient 10 receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets since his return from IR, as he now sets his sights on a Week 13 matchup against the Steelers' second-ranked pass defense.

Finds end zone
Sims caught each of his three targets for 13 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-9 win over Cincinnati.
Analysis: The touchdown was Sims' first of the season, but he played only 32 percent of offensive snaps, his third straight week below 50 percent since he returned from injured reserve. With Terry McLaurin and Cam Sims working as the starters in recent weeks, the remaining WR snaps have been split between Steven Sims, J.D. McKissic and Isaiah Wright. Things could become even more crowded if Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) makes it back for Thursday's game against Dallas.

Five catches in loss to Lions
Sims corralled five of six targets for 46 receiving yards during Sunday's 30-27 loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Sims fumbled on Washington's penultimate drive of the first half, but teammate Cam Sims was able to fall on the loose ball. Week 10 marked Steven's second appearance back from a toe injury that cost him four games, with his impact being much greater Sunday compared to his one-catch, four-yard output in Week 9 against the Giants. Next, Sims will face a Bengals defense that is tied for the third-most receiving touchdowns allowed to opposing wideouts on the season (13).

Barely plays on offense
Sims caught his lone target for a four-yard gain in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: After missing four straight games with a toe injury, Sims returned for Week 9 but played only 30 percent of the snaps on offense. He also had one punt return for 12 yards, while Danny Johnson handled the kick returns. It's possible Sims gets more work Week 10 at Detroit, but we haven't seen him in a significant role since mid-September.

Set to come off IR
Sims (toe) will be activated off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The return of Sims couldn't come at a better time for the Washington passing attack considering Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game, and Isaiah Wright has done little with the increased opportunities. Terry McLaurin still looms large as the team's true No. 1 option, but expect Sims to slot in right away, at least in three wide-receiver sets.

Looks ready to play
Sims (toe) appears likely to return from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants, as he's been a full practice participant throughout the week, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Coach Ron Rivera hasn't commented on the situation, but all other signs point to Sims being ready to play. Sims was a starter back in Weeks 1 and 2, but he came off the bench Week 3 and was placed on IR in early October. He could be reinstated to a starting job now that he's healthy, considering Dontrelle Inman (doubtful, hamstring) and Isaiah Wright haven't exactly set the world on fire.

Looks good at practice
Sims (toe) appeared to be a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Sims currently resides on injured reserve, which means the team won't list him on its daily practice reports this week. Based on Stackpole's report though, Sims appears to at least have a shot at playing in Sunday's game against the Giants. Dontrelle Inman and Isaiah Wright (shoulder) got most of the wideout snaps and targets behind Terry McLaurin over the past month while Sims was out, so there is a clear opening for him to reclaim a top-three role.

Sims (toe) is slated to practice Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Sims, who hasn't played since Week 3, remains on injured reserve, but now that he's back at practice, Washington will have up to 21 days to activate the wide receiver. Prior to suffering his injury, the 23-year-old recorded six catches (on eight targets) for 103 yards in three games.

Poised for some work Wednesday
Sims (toe) may do some "running around" Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It's unclear if Sims will take part in practice, or merely work out on the side, but he is eligible to be activated from IR this week, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. If Sims does practice, Washington will open a 21-day window in which to bring him back to the active roster. He hasn't played since Week 3 due to a toe injury, but when he returns he'll be on the receiving end of passes from Kyle Allen and not Dwayne Haskins.

Lands on injured reserve
Washington placed Sims (toe) on injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The 23-year-old has been unable to practice since attempting to play through the toe injury Week 3. The move to IR will prevent Sims playing in any of Washington's next three games, making him ineligible to suit up again until at least Nov. 8 against the Giants. While Sims is sidelined, Dontrelle Inman (foot) should continue to work as Washington's No. 2 wideout, with Isaiah Wright the next man up.

Still no practice reps
Sims (toe) didn't practice Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Meanwhile, fellow wide receivers Terry McLaurin (thigh) and Dontrelle Inman (foot) did what Sims could not: follow up a DNP on Wednesday with a limited session Thursday. Considering Sims hasn't practiced since Week 3, he appears to be in a tough spot ahead of Sunday's game versus the Rams. Friday's injury report may provide some clarity with his situation.

Fails to practice Wednesday
Sims (toe) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Washington's top three wide receivers -- Sims, Terry McLaurin (thigh) and Dontrelle Inman (foot) -- all sat out Wednesday as the team prepares for a change at quarterback from Dwayne Haskins to Kyle Allen. Sims hasn't played since Week 3, so his practice status Thursday and Friday likely will be key to his potential to play Sunday against the Rams.

Won't play Sunday
Sims (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Baltimore, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Sims tried to play through the toe injury last week but was limited to a season-low 36 percent snap share and zero targets in a 34-20 loss to the Browns. He hasn't practiced at all since that game, so it isn't clear he'll be back for Week 5 against the Rams. Absent again Friday
Sims (toe) wasn't seen at practice Friday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old has yet to practice this week and appears unlikely to be available for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Friday's injury report should shed more light on Sims' availability, but he appears to be trending in the wrong direction heading into the weekend. Top-wideout Terry McLaurin (thigh) also is limited, which could open up opportunities for Dontrelle Inman and Isaiah Wright.

Misses another practice
Sims (toe) won't participate in Thursday's practice, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: With back-to-back absences at practice to begin Week 4, Sims looks to be trending in the wrong direction as Sunday's game against the Ravens nears. He'll likely need to turn in at least a limited showing in Friday's practice to take a questionable designation into the weekend. Sims' production has been relatively muted through Washington's first three games, with the wideout hauling in six of seven targets for 103 yards.

Absent from practice
Sims (toe) didn't practice Wednesday, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Sims played through the injury in Sunday's 34-20 loss to Cleveland and handled his usual work in the return game, but his snap share on offense plummeted to 35 percent, way down from 83 and 91 percent over the first two weeks. The 23-year-old could bounce back into a larger role Week 4 against Baltimore, especially if fellow wide receiver Dontrelle Inman (wrist) isn't available. Inman also missed practice Wednesday.

Goes without any targets
Sims didn't draw any targets in Sunday's 34-20 loss to Cleveland, playing only 35 percent of snaps on offense and returning three kicks for 23 yards.
Analysis: Sims was listed as questionable with a toe injury, and while he was deemed healthy enough for his usual role in the return game, Isaiah Wright stepped up to take a bunch of his playing time on offense, catching four of six targets for 24 yards while handling 45 percent snap share. Washington also got a nice game from No. 3 receiver Dontrelle Inman, who scored a pair of touchdowns while playing 69 percent of snaps but suffered a wrist injury in the fourth quarter. Good to go against CLE
Sims (toe) is active Week 3 against the Browns.
Analysis: Sims steadily upgraded his practice status throughout the week, so it's not too surprising to see him out on the field for the road matchup against Cleveland. He'll likely resume his regular role as the No. 2 wideout, as well as serve as the primary kick return option. It's a small sample size of just two games, but Sims will be going up against a Browns defense that has given up the seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers.

Deemed questionable for Week 3
Sims (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Cleveland, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Sims upgraded his practice participation throughout the week, going from absent (Wednesday) to limited (Thursday) to full (Friday). He should be out there Sunday as Washington's No. 2 receiver, but fantasy managers will want to make sure when the team releases its inactive list around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Sims has played 87 percent of offensive snaps this season while also returning punts and kickoffs.

Gets 'limited' tag Thursday
Sims (toe) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Washington held Sims out of Wednesday's practice due to a toe injury, so his elevation to some work Thursday is a step in the right direction as the team prepares for Sunday's game at Cleveland. So far this season, he's a close second in offensive snap share (86.8 percent) behind No. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin (93.4). That said, Sims has accounted for just six catches (on seven targets) for 103 yards and no touchdowns through two games.

Dealing with toe injury
Sims isn't practicing Wednesday due to a toe injury, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Sims played 91 percent of offensive snaps in Sunday's 30-15 loss to the Cardinals, catching three of five targets for 53 yards while losing a fumble on a punt return. His usage in that game suggests the toe injury isn't serious, or else he suffered it at the very end of the game. A return to practice Thursday would put Sims on track to suit up Sunday in Cleveland.

Gets five targets, fumbles punt
Sims caught three of five targets for 53 yards in a 30-15 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
Analysis: The usage was a bit more promising than the stat line suggests, as both incompletions were on downfield throws and Sims also had two would-be targets wiped out by defensive penalties. On a less promising note, he lost a fumble on a punt return, setting up the Cardinals for a 14-point lead early in the game. Sims played 91 percent of snaps on offense, in addition to handling both punt and kick returns. He appears locked in as Washington's No. 2 receiver ahead of a Week 3 trip to Cleveland.

Plays 83 percent of snaps
Sims caught each of his three targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Eagles, playing 83 percent of snaps on offense.
Analysis: Sims also took five punt returns for 17 yards and lined up as the deep man for kickoffs (all of which were touchbacks). His target total may have been disappointing, but the playing time and efficiency suggests he's the clear No. 2 receiver behind Terry McLaurin. Meanwhile, Dontrelle Inman caught two of five targets for 21 yards, handling 51 percent snap share.

Starting at WR, KR, PR
Sims is listed as a starter at wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner on Washington's initial 2020 depth chart.
Analysis: It sounds like the second-year pro will be busy in a Week 1 matchup with the Eagles. After putting up 259 receiving yards and four touchdowns over the final month of his rookie campaign, Sims never faced a serious challenge for a starting job in 2020, with reports out of training camp suggesting he could even see more snaps on the perimeter this year. Could see work outside
Sims could get a look in the "Z" receiver spot under new Washington offensive coordinator Scott Turner, Mark Bullock of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Listed at 5-foot-10 and 176 pounds, Sims operated as a slot specialist last year, coming on strong at the end of his rookie campaign with 230 yards and four scores over the final four weeks. He's undersized even by slot standards, but he flashed some speed on a 65-yard touchdown run and a 91-yard kick return. Facing competition for slot snaps
Sims will be joined by 2020 draft picks Antonio Gibson (third round) and Antonio Gandy-Golden (fourth round) in the Washington offense, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Gibson, in particular, could emerge as a threat to Sims, who went undrafted out of Kansas last year but emerged as a slot regular by the end of his rookie season. Gibson offers similar speed (4.39 40) in a much larger body (6-0, 228), and he split time between the slot and backfield at Memphis. On the other hand, Gibson didn't get significant playing time until his senior campaign, so Sims should have an advantage when it comes to route running and the mental aspect of the game. Analysis: He also lost six yards on one carry. Sims began the season as a return man and gadget player on offense, with his lone impact play in the first half of the year coming on a 65-yard end-around for a score against the Patriots in Week 5, but as injuries thinned the receiver ranks for Washington, the undrafted rookie got a chance to show he is a capable route runner as well. Scores two TDs vs. Giants
Sims caught six of 10 targets for 64 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 41-35 loss to the Giants. He also carried two times for nine yards.
Analysis: Sims led the team in targets while adding receiving touchdowns in the first and third quarters. He hadn't received more than four targets in any game prior to Week 14, but he's been thrown to 28 times over the last three weeks while hauling in 15 of those targets and scoring three touchdowns. Gets first receiving score
Sims caught five of 11 targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-27 loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: Sims scored his first career receiving touchdown from five yards out in the second quarter, but he also had a critical drop on a deep ball with the game tied in the fourth. The Redskins challenged the play for possible defensive pass interference, but their challenge came up empty. With his role expanding down the stretch, a deep-league flier on Sims could end up paying off against the vulnerable Giants secondary in Week 16.

Analysis: Sims drew the start for Trey Quinn (concussion) in Sunday's contest and finished second on the team in receptions and receiving yards. Sims is expected to replace Trey Quinn (concussion) as Washington's top slot receiver Sunday in Green Bay, Kyle Stackpole of the Redskins' official site reports.
Analysis: Sims filled in after Quinn suffered the concussion early in last week's 29-21 win over the Panthers, ultimately catching three of four targets for 29 yards while playing 58 percent of the offensive snaps. The undrafted rookie isn't a great bet for more than three or four targets, but he has shown some explosiveness with a 65-yard rushing touchdown (Week 5) and a 91-yard kick return score (Week 12). Fills in for injured Quinn
Sims caught three of four targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 29-21 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: The undrafted rookie played a season-high 58 percent of snaps on offense, filling in as the No. 3 receiver after Trey Quinn suffered a concussion in the first half. Sims had a kick return touchdown the previous week and a 65-yard rushing score earlier in the year, so any contributions he makes as a pass catcher might be seen as a bonus. Sims had a 91-yard kickoff return touchdown in Sunday's 19-16 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Sims also drew two targets but finished without a catch. He's hauled in 11 of 16 targets for just 51 yards on the season, but he at least has shown some big-play ability in other facets, with the kick-return touchdown Sunday and a 66-yard rushing score earlier in the year. Reels in catch in loss
Sims caught his only target for a 12-yard gain during Sunday's 24-9 loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Coming off a career-high four touches in Week 7, Sims was targeted just once in Dwayne Haskins' debut start. The rookie receiver has made some nifty plays as a runner, particularly his 65-yard touchdown in Week 5, but Sims is only averaging 5.0 yards per catch on nine receptions this season.
