On injured reserve, as expected
The Rams placed Henderson (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: As expected, Henderson will miss the regular-season finale and at least the first two rounds of the playoffs, assuming the Rams are able to qualify for the latter. In addition to Henderson hitting IR, the overall outlook for the offense has taken multiple hits, with Jared Goff requiring surgery on a broken and dislocated thumb Monday, Cam Akers tending to a high-ankle sprain of his own, and Cooper Kupp (undisclosed) landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. In the case of the backfield, if…read more

IR expected
Henderson suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Seahawks and is expected to be placed on injured reserve, Eric D. Williams of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Henderson logged 62 yards on 12 carries before exiting Sunday's loss. He now will miss the team's regular-season finale against the Cardinals, and it remains to be seen if he will be available for a potential postseason berth. Cam Akers (ankle) still could be available against Arizona, but if he isn't look for Malcolm Brown to see the majority of the work out of the backfield.

High-ankle sprain feared
Henderson is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Seahawks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Henderson was forced out of Sunday's divisional loss in the fourth quarter, logging 12 carries for 62 yards before his exit. It now appears as though Henderson's ankle issue could be significant, and with No. 1 running back Cam Akers already sidelined due to the same injury, Los Angeles' backfield could be severely lacking in depth Week 17. Malcolm Brown, Xavier Jones and Raymond Calais are currently the Rams' only healthy tailbacks.

Hurts ankle Sunday
Henderson left Sunday's game at Seattle with a left ankle injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Rams are already without No. 1 running back Cam Akers due to a high-ankle sprain, and now his replacement is tending to an ankle issue of his own. Henderson is doubtful to return to the field, so he seems destined to end Week 16 with 12 carries for 62 yards. With Akers and Henderson sidelined, L.A. has turned to Malcolm Brown out of the backfield.

More opportunities on tap Week 16
Head coach Sean McVay said both Henderson and Malcolm Brown will be "heavily involved" in the Rams' game plan Sunday in Seattle with top back Cam Akers (ankle) ruled out for the contest, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. "I mean they'll both get work," McVay said of Henderson and Brown. "As far as the specifics, I'm not really sure. We're just getting into the initial parts of the game plan."
Analysis: Before Akers emerged as the team's clear top back over the past three games, the lead option out of the Los Angeles backfield had been a difficult one to predict in any given week. Expect that to be the case this weekend, as McVay was unwilling to anoint either Henderson or Brown as the No. 1 option, nor was he willing to divulge how the work may be divvied up between the two. For fantasy managers looking to roll the dice on one of the two backs this week, Henderson represents the more…read more

Uninvolved in loss
Henderson rushed once for a loss of two yards and caught his only target for five yards during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Jets. He played just seven of 59 offensive snaps.
Analysis: The sophomore has now been limited to just 39 rushes for 151 yards and seven receptions for 50 yards over the past seven games. Additionally, with rookie Cam Akers the clear No. 1 back over the past three contests, Henderson's outlook isn't promising heading into Los Angeles' Week 16 matchup against Seattle.

Watches rookie run all over Pats
Henderson rushed twice for five yards and only played seven offensive snaps during Thursday's 24-3 win over New England.
Analysis: The second-year rusher took a backseat to rookie Cam Akers on Thursday, as Akers churned out big run after big run on Los Angeles' first two drives, and coach Sean McVay leaned on him thereafter. Henderson's two carries won't pay the fantasy bills, and managers should be concerned, even if it's been speculated that Akers' role was likely to expand for the past few weeks. While it would be surprising if Henderson didn't see more work over the coming weeks, veteran Malcolm Brown also will likely…read more

Finds end zone in win
Henderson carried the ball three times for 49 yards and a touchdown and caught two of three targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 38-28 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: He left the game briefly in the second quarter to get his knee checked out and overall took a back seat to rookie Cam Akers, who got 21 carries, but Henderson nearly matched Akers' fantasy production thanks to a 38-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Nonetheless, Henderson's role and value seem to be waning heading into Week 14's clash with a Patriots defense that just shut out the Chargers.

Back in Sunday's game
Henderson (knee) returned to Sunday's game at Arizona, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Prior to his departure in the second quarter due to a knee injury, Henderson managed to compile 17 yards on his three touches. With a 19-yard catch to start the second half, he's back in the Rams' backfield mix with Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown.

Suffers knee injury Sunday
Henderson hurt his knee during Sunday's contest in Arizona.
Analysis: At the time of his departure in the second quarter, Henderson had two carries for 11 yards and one reception (on two targets) for six yards. As long as he's sidelined, the Rams backfield will be composed of Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown.

Bottled up by Niners
Henderson rushed 10 times for 19 yards during Sunday's 23-20 loss to San Francisco.
Analysis: The sophomore's fantasy day could have been somewhat saved if quarterback Jared Goff hadn't overthrown Henderson on a would-be touchdown in the third quarter. Instead, Henderson has now been limited in consecutive games with just 24 rushing yards on 18 carries and four receiving yards on two receptions. Making matters worse, the Rams continued their commitment to utilizing three running backs. Unproductive against Bucs
Henderson rushed eight times for five yards and caught two of three targets for four yards in Monday night's 27-24 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Henderson's production was nearly non-existent despite hitting double digits in touches. In a matchup against the league's best rush defense, however, none of Los Angeles' top three tailbacks gained more than 20 yards, and Henderson still led the group in carries. Although rookie Cam Akers caught a touchdown out of the backfield, Monday didn't seem to do anything to alter anyone's standing in the Rams' running-back rotation, so even though Henderson has been underwhelming lately, he should…read more

Finds end zone in win
Henderson carried the ball seven times for 28 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for five yards in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Seahawks.
Analysis: The Rams deployed a true backfield committee in this one, as Cam Akers wound up with 10 touches and Malcolm Brown eight, but Henderson was able to salvage his fantasy day with a seven-yard TD run in the first quarter. All three backs could struggle to post useful numbers if that workload split continues in Week 11 on the road against a very stingy Buccaneers run defense.

Cleared for Sunday
Henderson (quad) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Analysis: Coming out of a bye week, Henderson logged back-to-back limited practices before upgrading to full participation Friday. He figures to handle his usual role as the lead ballcarrier, facing a Seattle defense that's struggled against the pass all season while allowing only 3.7 yards per carry on the ground.

Officially limited Thursday
Henderson (quad) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Henderson has now logged back-to-back limited practices coming off a Week 9 bye, but according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, coach Sean McVay fully expects the second-year running back to suit up versus Seattle on Sunday. If Henderson's injury limits him in any capacity Sunday, however, Malcolm Brown and Cam Akers would be candidates to see increased touches.

Returns to practice Thursday
Coach Sean McVay said Henderson (quadriceps) will practice Thursday and is expected to suit up Sunday against the Seahawks, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: When Henderson left the Rams' last game Nov. 1 in Miami, he was deemed to be dealing with a thigh injury. After the team's ensuing Week 9 bye, though, the Rams are calling it a quad issue. In any case, after not practicing Wednesday, Henderson is back on the field Thursday with an eye toward being available this weekend. If he's able to avoid an absence, he likely will lead a backfield that also includes Malcolm Brown and Cam Akers.

No practice reps Wednesday
Henderson (thigh/quadriceps) won't participate in Wednesday's practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Despite having the benefit of the Rams being on bye Week 9, Henderson continues to tend to the thigh and quad injuries that forced him out of the team's Nov. 1 loss to the Dolphins. Consequently, his status should be monitored closely as the week goes on to get a sense of his potential to suit up Sunday against the Seahawks. If he's unable to go, Henderson will yield backfield work to some combination of Malcolm Brown and Cam Akers.

Injury not serious
Henderson (thigh) is not expected to miss any time after a thigh injury forced him to leave Sunday's loss to the Dolphins early, Stu Jackson of the team's official website reports.
Analysis: Coach Sean McVay indicated Monday that Henderson's thigh injury "is good," and he does not anticipate it impacting his availability for Week 10 following the team's bye. After his exit, Malcolm Brown and rookie Cam Akers handled backfield duties. Barring any setbacks, the second-year running back looks on track to take on his usual workload on Sunday, Nov. 15 against the Seahawks.

Analysis: Henderson appeared to have suffered the injury in the second quarter. Garners 15 carries
Henderson rushed 15 times for 64 yards and caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday night's 24-10 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Henderson did most of his damage on a third-quarter touchdown series in which he totaled 32 yards on three touches. That came after teammate Malcolm Brown put Los Angeles in the end zone with a one-yard touchdown rush to cap the drive prior. Brown gained 57 yards on his 10 carries, so Henderson still paced his team on the ground overall. Henderson (thigh) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Bears, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Confirming what was reported by coach Sean McVay on Friday, Henderson is full go for a prime-time matchup against the Bears on Monday. While Chicago's defense has the reputation of a fearsome unit, Mike Davis' 52 rushing yards last week was actually the lowest rushing total allowed to a starting running back by the Bears since Week 2. Henderson rushed 14 times for 88 yards in Sunday's 24-16 loss to San Francisco.
Analysis: Henderson led the Rams backfield in touches for the second consecutive week despite mid-week rumblings of the Rams looking to get other backs more involved after he averaged just 2.5 YPC over the last two weeks. Pair of scores in Week 5 win
Henderson rushed 15 times for 38 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of four targets for 30 yards and another score in the Rams' 30-10 win over the Washington Football Team on Sunday.
Analysis: The second-year pro paced the backfield in rushing touches, but he saw rookie teammate Cam Akers lead the way with 61 rushing yards. Meanwhile, Henderson managed a long run of just seven yards and averaged under 3.0 yards per carry for the second straight game and third overall this season. Vanishing act in Week 4
Henderson carried the ball eight times for 22 yards and caught his only target for 16 yards in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Giants.
Analysis: There was no indication after the game that Henderson had suffered any kind of injury, but despite piling up 241 scrimmage yards and two TDs over the last two weeks, the second-year RB suddenly took a back seat to Malcolm Brown. The Rams' backfield remains volatile even before factoring in the potential return of Cam Akers (ribs), but there could be enough production to go around in Week 5 against a Washington defense that's given up multiple rushing TDs in three straight games.

Workhorse in high-scoring loss
Henderson rushed 20 times for 114 yards and a touchdown while adding one catch for six yards on three targets in Sunday's 35-32 loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Henderson operated as the lead back with Cam Akers (ribs) sidelined, getting 20 carries to Malcolm Brown's seven. His one-yard touchdown with 4:30 left completed Los Angeles' remarkable turnaround from down 28-3 to up 32-28, but Buffalo responded with a game-winning touchdown drive aided by a controversial fourth-down pass interference penalty. Henderson's teammate Cam Akers (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Buffalo, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Henderson enjoyed a breakout performance last week, picking up 121 yards and a touchdown after Akers' departure early in the first quarter of an eventual 37-19 win over the Eagles. The rookie started the past two weeks, and Malcolm Brown leads the team with 29 carries, but Henderson could be the top guy for Week 3 at Buffalo. Leads backfield in Week 2 victory
Henderson rushed 12 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, adding two receptions for 40 yards in the Rams' 37-19 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: After seeing just three touches in Week 1, Henderson led the backfield in Week 2 after Cam Akers was forced out of the game with a ribs injury. Akers' timetable to return is unclear, but it's likely Henderson continues to see his role grow after this electric performance. Henderson rushed three times for six yards and played only five offensive snaps during Sunday's 20-17 win over Dallas.
Analysis: After missing a lot of time during training camp with a hamstring injury, it wasn't surprising to see Henderson watch most of Sunday's game from the sidelines. Furthermore, it's tough to positively spin his fantasy outlook for the immediate future. Trending in right direction
Head coach Sean McVay is optimistic that Henderson (hamstring) will be ready for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys, J.B. Long of the Los Angeles Rams Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Henderson has been running on the side during practice but has yet to participate since being diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring strain on Aug. 22. Having missed over two weeks of practice, he likely doesn't have enough time to win the starting job before Sunday's primetime showdown. Coach Sean McVay said Henderson (hamstring) is trending in a positive direction, but it's unclear if he'll be healthy enough to play in the Rams' season opener Sept. 13 against the Cowboys, Sarina Morales of the Rams' official site reports.
Analysis: Henderson was putting together an impressive camp until two weeks ago, when he limped off the field. While Henderson hasn't returned to practice yet, he has worked out on the side a number of times and even ran a few routes after Saturday's session. Analysis: The same applies to safety Taylor Rapp (knee), with coach Sean McVay noting afterward that the duo's activity Wednesday was "a step in the right direction" for both. Per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, McVay said he expects Henderson back by the Rams' season opener. Appears on track for Week 1
Henderson sustained a low-grade hamstring strain during the Rams' scrimmage Saturday, but the team is optimistic he'll be ready to go for the Sept. 13 season opener versus the Cowboys, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: In a similar vein, coach Sean McVay downplayed the severity of Henderson's injury when asked about the matter Sunday, so the second-year back looks like he'll miss minimal game action, if any. That said, Henderson's role heading into Week 1 had yet to be solidified before he suffered the injury, so the missed reps in practice could result in him losing work to healthier options like Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown in the early portion of the season.

On track for training camp
Henderson (ankle) said Wednesday he'll be fully ready for the start of training camp, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 22-year-old missed the regular-season finale with a high-ankle sprain and underwent surgery in late December, but the procedure won't impact his availability for the start of the 2020 campaign. As a rookie in 2019, Henderson rushed 39 times for 147 yards and caught four passes for 37 yards, but the departure of Todd Gurley leaves a significant void in the backfield. Malcolm Brown and rookie second-round pick Cam Akers will also be competing for playing time, though Henderson may start out…read more

Competition added in draft
Henderson (ankle) received competition for playing time entering the 2020 season after the team selected Cam Akers in the second round of this year's draft, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN reports.
Analysis: After a forgettable rookie campaign last year, Henderson was positioned to have a significant role out of the backfield with Todd Gurley released in March. While the addition of Akers to the depth chart does add competition for the sophomore and 26-year-old veteran Malcolm Brown, Henderson's draft pedigree and big-play upside should enable him to carve out a meaningful role in the offense. Henderson underwent ankle surgery in December, and he was a major fantasy disappointment last year after…read more

Likely leader of committee?
Rams GM Les Snead envisions Henderson (ankle) operating as part of a multi-player backfield, Greg Beacham of The Associated Press reports. "What we want to be is a team that utilizes more than just one workhorse running the ball," Snead said. "We have this big-picture vision, Darrell (Henderson) being a part of it, but we do expect other pieces to be a big part of it as well."
Analysis: The Rams leaned on Todd Gurley as a three-down workhorse for the better part of the past three seasons, including in 2019 when his production drastically declined. With Gurley released last month and now signed by Atlanta, the Rams are preparing for a new reality in the backfield, where Henderson and Malcolm Brown currently stand as the top options. Brown has more experience in Sean McVay's system and was a bit more efficient with his opportunities last season, but he doesn't offer much in…read more

Eyeing lead role
Henderson (ankle) has a big opportunity ahead with Todd Gurley no longer part of the Rams backfield, Rich Hammond of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Rams have time to add players before Week 1, but they don't have a ton of cap space or a top-50 draft pick, and they still have a few other positions that appear just as weak as their backfield. Gurley's release Thursday opens up a nice opportunity for both Henderson and Malcom Brown, with the former heading into the second season of his rookie contract and the latter entering Year 2 of a two-year, $3.25 million deal. Henderson struggled as a rookie and eventually needed ankle surgery in…read more

Dealing with ankle injury
Henderson suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: Henderson had two carries for seven yards early in the contest before exiting with the ankle issue. The 22-year-old's status should be updated once the Rams return to practice next week, at the latest.

Shows well in garbage time
Henderson rushed four times for 17 yards during Sunday's 34-7 win over Arizona. He played just seven of 79 offensive snaps.
Analysis: Henderson didn't see the field until the middle of the fourth quarter, so while rushing for 4.3 yards per tote is encouraging, he might not have played if the game wasn't already clinched. The rookie has flashed game-breaking talent and tremendous fantasy upside, but he's not receiving the playing time to make a difference in the fake game. It's hard to rely on him at this stage of the season.

Left out of offensive plans
Henderson played three offensive snaps and didn't receive a touch in Sunday's 17-7 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Todd Gurley looked healthy with a whopping 25 carries and three receptions while Malcolm Brown recorded five rushes. With his lowest snap count since Week 5, Henderson was clearly absent from the Rams' offensive plans besides for injury insurance. The rookie third-rounder won't be a dependable fantasy asset as long as Gurley's healthy.

Bottled up by Steelers
Henderson rushed four times for just four yards during Sunday's 17-12 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: This was a disappointing showing from the rookie, who was coming off his best game of the season (49 rushing yards and 20 receiving yards) against Cincinnati in Week 8, but the return of Malcolm Brown resulted in a split of the touches that didn't go to Todd Gurley. Henderson has flashed upside, and with the Los Angeles offense sputtering, finding ways to get the ball in his hands would seem logical. However, he remains an unreliable fantasy asset as long as Gurley is healthy.
