Finishes season strong
Coutee caught six of seven targets for 90 yards in Sunday's 41-38 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Coutee was on the receiving end of two long plays: a 42-yard catch in the first quarter and a 29-yard reception in the final minute of the game that set up Houston's final score. The 23-year-old wide receiver resuscitated a moribund career during the second half of the season when injuries and personnel decisions opened up an opportunity for him. Over the final seven games, Coutee caught 31 of 38 targets for 389 yards (12.5 YPC) with three touchdowns. There was still an issue with fumbles, but…read more

Cleared for Week 17 action
Coutee (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Analysis: After following up limited practices Wednesday and Thursday with a full workout Friday, Coutee looks to be in the clear to handle his usual starting role in the season finale. Interim head coach Romeo Crennel hasn't suggested that any of the team's healthy players will be rested as the 4-11 Texans close out their season, so look for Coutee to remain a key part of the passing attack. Over his last four outings, Coutee has played no fewer than 63 percent of the Texans' offensive snaps, turning in…read more

Limited Wednesday
Coutee (foot) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
Analysis: Houston conducted a walk-through session, but Coutee would have had his reps capped if the team held a traditional practice. The slot receiver was also limited by a foot injury last Wednesday, but he returned to full practice participation by Thursday. If Coutee follows a similar pattern this week, he should shed his injury designation ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Titans.

Makes five grabs in loss
Coutee brought in all five targets for 54 yards in the Texans' 37-31 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. He also committed a fumble, but it was recovered by the offense.
Analysis: Coutee checked in second in receptions, receiving yards and targets to Brandin Cooks, serving as a dependable complementary option for Deshaun Watson in the high-scoring loss. The third-year speedster has been solid since Randall Cobb (IR-toe) and Will Fuller (suspension) were sidelined, posting a 21-272-2 line over his last four contests. Coutee will look to finish off the campaign in strong fashion at the expense of the Titans in a Week 17 divisional battle.

Returns to full practice
Coutee (foot) returned to a full practice Thursday.
Analysis: Coutee was limited Wednesday, but his return to a full session Thursday paves the way for him to be out there Sunday against the 3-10-1 Bengals. With the Texans' wide receiver corps having thinned out as the season has progressed, Coutee's settled into a steady enough role to merit fantasy lineup consideration over the past five weeks. In that span, he's caught 20 of 26 targets for 245 yards to go along with three TDs.

Limited to start week
Coutee was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a foot injury.
Analysis: The Texans may simply be taking a cautious approach to Coutee's health, given the team's overall lack of depth at wide receiver. Coutee once again handled a major role in last weekend's loss to the Colts, playing 80 percent of the offensive snaps and churning out five receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown, though he committed a costly fumble near the goal line. Interim head coach Romeo Crennel has made it clear that despite the mistake, Coutee -- if healthy -- will remain a key component of…read more

Needs to shake off fumble
Coutee will be back on the field Week 16 against the Bengals after his fumble cost the Texans a chance to upset the Colts last week, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. "Well, he has to shake it off and move forward because he has to play next week," Texans interim coach Romeo Crennel said.
Analysis: Unlike earlier in the season when Coutee's fumble against the Ravens was returned for a touchdown -- a mistake that resulted in a benching for several weeks under former head coach Bill O'Brien -- the third-year wideout will be back on the field Sunday. Coutee has been a regular member of the wideout rotation the last five weeks due to injuries and personnel decisions, catching 20 of 26 targets for 245 yards (12.3 YPC, 49.0 YPG) with three touchdowns. Houston's Week 16 opponent, the Bengals,…read more

Has costly fumble
Coutee recorded five receptions on seven targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Colts.
Analysis: Coutee saw the majority of his volume in the first half, when he hauled in three receptions for 31 yards. Even so, he played a key role in the Texans' comeback effort by recording a nine-yard touchdown that knotted the game 20-20 midway through the fourth quarter. Coutee appeared poised to re-tie the game on the Texans' following drive, but he was stripped of the ball at the two-yard line, and the Colts' victory was sealed. Salvages day with TD
Coutee (knee) brought in all three targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 36-7 loss to the Bears on Sunday.
Analysis: With Brandin Cooks' (foot/neck) absence leading to Deshaun Watson being without his top three receivers from the beginning of the season -- Will Fuller (suspension) and Randall Cobb (IR, toe) were also unavailable -- the opportunity for a significant workload appeared to be there for Coutee. However, that ultimately failed to materialize, with Coutee checking in behind all of Jordan Akins, Steven Mitchell and Chad Hansen in targets. Suits up Sunday
Coutee (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Analysis: The Texans' already-depleted wide receiver corps will also be without Brandin Cooks (foot/neck) on Sunday, so as long as Coutee avoids any-in-game setbacks, he figures to be a focal part of the team's Week 14 passing attack, with Chad Hansen also in line to see expanded opportunities.

On track for Week 14
Coutee (knee), who is listed as questionable, is expected to play Sunday at Chicago, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old received the questionable tag despite putting in full practice sessions Thursday and Friday, so it's no surprise he's likely to suit up versus the Bears. Coutee erupted with eight catches for 141 yards last week and should continue to see a significant snap share given the recent thinning of Houston's receiving corps. Fellow wideout Brandin Cooks (foot/neck) is also expected to play despite being labeled questionable.

Practices fully, listed as questionable
Coutee (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Analysis: As is fellow wideout Brandin Cooks (foot/neck), who was limited at practice this week. However, given that Coutee was listed as a full practice participant both Thursday and Friday after logging a limited session Wednesday, we suspect that he should be a go for Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. With the Texans' receiving corps having thinned out of late, Coutee, who caught eight of his nine targets for 141 yards in a Week 13 loss to the Colts, should continue to be busy this weekend, assuming he…read more

Back to full practice
Coutee (knee) practiced fully Thursday.
Analysis: Fellow wideout Brandin Cooks (foot/neck) remained limited Thursday, but Coutee's full practice paves the way for him to suit up Sunday against the Bears. With the depth of Houston's receiving corps taxed by the suspension of Will Fuller, the release of Kenny Stills and Randall Cobb (toe) remaining on IR, Coutee, who caught eight of his nine targets for 141 yards in a Week 13 loss to the Colts, should continue to be a key cog in the Texans' passing attack this weekend.

Limited by knee issue
Coutee was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to a knee issue.
Analysis: Top wideout Brandin Cooks (foot/neck) was also limited in the Texans' first practice of Week 14. The team's receiving corps has already been depleted by the suspension of Will Fuller, the recent release of Kenny Stills and the ongoing residence of Randall Cobb (toe) on injured reserve, making the health of Cooks and Coutee of great importance heading into Sunday's game against the Bears. Explodes for 141 yards
Coutee caught eight of nine targets for 141 yards during Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Coutee led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards as he notched a new career high in the latter. He started the game strong with an early 64-yard reception and consistently connected with Deshaun Watson en route to an excellent final stat line. Coutee has produced in the past with Will Fuller (suspension) out and seems poised to do so again this time around, with his next chance coming Sunday against the Bears.

Increased role ahead
Coutee should work as Houston's No. 2 wide receiver following the PED suspension for Will Fuller, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old has played about half of the Texans' offensive snaps over the past two weeks with the injury to Randall Cobb (toe) and the release of Kenny Stills, and he's now primed for an even larger snap share with Fuller suspended for the rest of the season. Coutee has only four catches for 27 yards and a touchdown over the past two weeks, but now he should only be behind Brandin Cooks on the depth chart at wide receiver. Four touches in win
Coutee caught two of three targets for 17 yards and caught a two-point conversion in Thursday's 41-25 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Coutee has emerged from the Texans' doghouse in the wake of Randall Cobb's toe injury, which landed him on injured reserve. Cobb will miss at least two more games, giving Coutee relevance heading into Week 13 against the Colts. He also lined up as a returner, handling a fair catch in his only punt-return opportunity and 10 yards on one kickoff return.

Set for increased role
Coutee could factor heavily into the Houston passing game Thursday against the Lions with fellow wideouts Randall Cobb (toe) and Kenny Stills (quadriceps) sidelined, Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old saw his first action since Week 2 during Sunday's win over the Patriots, catching two of four targets for 10 yards and a touchdown, with three of those targets coming in the red zone. Houston should continue to rely on Deshaun Watson and the aerial attack as the run game struggles in the absence of David Johnson (concussion). Coutee looks primed to see significant snaps in the slot, with Will Fuller and Brandin Cooks working on the outside against a subpar Detroit defense.

Likely benefeciary of Cobb injury
With Randall Cobb (toe) ruled out of Thursday's game against Detroit, Coutee could take over as the slot receiver Week 12, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Coutee filled in for Cobb, who left Sunday's win over the Patriots after just five snaps. The initial opinion is that it's a season-ending injury, but Cobb is seeking a second opinion. If the initial prognosis stands, Coutee could be the primary slot receiver going forward. He hadn't played since losing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown in Week 2, but Coutee impressed against the Patriots. Emerges in Week 11 win
Coutee caught two of four targets for 10 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 win over New England.
Analysis: Eraly injuries to Randall Cobb (toe) and Kenny Stills (quadriceps) cleared the way for Coutee's biggest game of the season. He played a season-high 35 snaps (57 percent) and was targeted three times in the red zone. With a short week of preparation for Week 12 on Thursday in Detroit, Coutee could be the starting slot receiver against the Lions.

Sitting out Week 7
Coutee (coach's decision) has been tabbed as inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Packers.
Analysis: The 23-year-old lost a fumble during Houston's Week 2 loss to the Ravens, and he hasn't been able to get back in the coaching staff's graces since. Coutee has been a healthy scratch over each of the Texans' four outings since that point, as the team remains deep at the receiver position. There is a possibility Houston makes a deadline move, trading away a WR to bolster another area of the roster. That may be the only scenario, besides injury ahead of him on the depth chart, in which Coutee…read more

Makes critical turnover
Coutee caught two of two targets for 11 yards and lost a costly fumble in Sunday's 33-16 loss to the Ravens in Week 2.
Analysis: Coutee, who was inactive Week 1, got early run when Will Fuller briefly left the game with a hamstring injury. On his second catch, the ball was knocked loose and scooped up by L.J. Fort, who returned the fumble for a touchdown to give Baltimore a 20-7 lead late in the second quarter. That was the turning point of the game as the Ravens were never threatened afterward.

Coutee (foot) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Ravens, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old receiver was held out for Houston's Week 1 matchup against the reigning Super Bowl champions, as he had dealt with a stress fracture in his foot throughout training camp. Coutee has since shown enough to trainers to earn his way onto the field, though his role may be reduced from the one he filled the past two years. Coutee (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Thursday at Kansas City.
Analysis: Coutee starts this season much like he ended the 2019 campaign: on the inactive list. Granted, he dealt with a stress fracture in his foot during camp, but the injury didn't impact his practice reps in advance of Week 1. While he dons street clothes Thursday, the Texans will roll with Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, Randall Cobb, Kenny Stills and DeAndre Carter at wide receiver.

Coutee has made the Texans' 53-man roster, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: This was not entirely expected after a rough 2019 season for Coutee, who had a lingering ankle injury, dropped passes and concentration issues. He had a mild stress fracture in his foot during this year's camp but returned in time for the final scrimmage. He's one of six receivers the Texans kept.

Coach Bill O'Brien said Coutee has looked good since returning from a foot injury, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Coutee missed about a week of practice in late August while resting a stress fracture in his foot. It's fair to wonder if the issue will pop up again this season, but he apparently didn't have any limitations in Wednesday's practice, as O'Brien noted that the third-year pro was returning kicks, taking reverses and running routes from the slot. Coutee (foot) participated in practice Saturday, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Coutee is evidently dealing with a minor stress fracture in his foot with an emphasis on the "minor" part considering he was able to participate in Saturday's practice. Head coach Bill O'Brien has stressed he'd like to give Coutee rest in order for the injury to heal so it wouldn't be surprising to see the depth receiver have some planned practices off in the near future.

Dealing with stress fracture
Coutee has a minor stress fracture in his foot, but the Texans expect the injury to resolve itself with rest, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: This explains the slot receiver's recent absences from practice, which coach Bill O'Brien had originally downplayed. It sounds like the Texans are optimistic about Coutee being ready for Week 1, though it isn't clear he'll have a significant role in the offense. Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills figure to account for the vast majority of WR snaps.

Coutee (undisclosed) missed another practice Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Coach Bill O'Brien said Friday that Coutee was merely being rested, but it now seems more likely the slot receiver is dealing with an injury or soreness, considering he's absent from practice for a fifth consecutive day. The 2018 fourth-round pick struggled with hamstring injuries throughout his rookie season, but his seven absences last season mostly were coach's decisions. Shows growth in camp
Coutee has impressed Texans head coach Bill O'Brien during training camp with his maturity, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: O'Brien said Coutee is "on the right track" as he prepares for his third NFL season. The coach cited the presence of veteran offseason pickup Randall Cobb as a role model for Coutee, who has experienced injuries and has been plagued by mistakes during his NFL career. Coutee faces a crowded wideout group, and he won't have preseason games to force a move up the depth chart. If the group stays as deep as it is now, he may need to win a job as punt returner to keep his spot on the 53-man roster.

Stuck on roster bubble?
Coutee may be on the roster bubble after the Texans signed Randall Cobb and traded for Brandin Cooks during the offseason, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The combination of Cooks and Cobb is no match for DeAndre Hopkins in terms of quality, but the two-in, one-out offseason plan creates a tougher numbers game further down the depth chart. While a trade could eventually free up the logjam, Houston's current roster construction hints at Coutee and DeAndre Carter competing for the fifth wide receiver spot, behind Cooks, Cobb, Will Fuller and Kenny Stills, in some uncertain order. Likely to cede slot snaps to Cobb
Coutee's path to seeing regular work out of the slot in 2020 appears to have taken a hit after the Texans signed Randall Cobb to a three-year, $27 million deal last week, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: While he won't be anything close to a one-for-one replacement for DeAndre Hopkins, Cobb in combination with fellow wideouts Will Fuller and Kenny Stills and newly acquired running back David Johnson are currently in line to pick up most of the targets that became available when the four-time Pro Bowler was dealt to Arizona. Loses fumble in return to lineup
Coutee caught five of eight targets for 68 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 38-24 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Coutee's fumble was a costly one, as it was returned for a touchdown by Denver's defense. Analysis: A healthy inactive the past two weeks following Fuller's return to the lineup, Coutee should get the opportunity to dress in Week 14 after Fuller's hamstring issue nagged him in practices Wednesday through Friday. While DeAndre Carter suited up ahead of Coutee the past two weeks, his main value to Houston comes on special teams. Analysis: Now that Will Fuller is back in the mix, it looks like it's going to take an injury to either DeAndre Hopkins, Fuller or Kenny Stills for Coutee to find his way back on to the Texans' active list.

Back to inactive list
Coutee (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Colts.
Analysis: Will Fuller's (hamstring) return from a three-game absence looks like it will be enough to bump Coutee to the inactive list, as Houston will go with four wideouts in Week 12. Though Coutee played 44 offensive snaps to DeAndre Carter's four in Sunday's loss to Baltimore, the latter's standing as the team's top return man allowed him to maintain an active status over Coutee.

Has support of his QB
Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson said he's pleased to see Coutee back on the field following a two-game benching, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Coutee had a rough stretch during which he dropped a pass that was intercepted in a loss to the Colts and committed mental mistakes that prompted a benching for Weeks 8 and 9. Following the bye week and a good week of practice, Coutee was back on the field for Week 11's loss to Baltimore, when he caught three passes for 25 yards. "It's always good to get Keke back out there and get his confidence up," said Watson, who has connected with Coutee for 16 receptions and 179 yards on 25 targets. "You…read more

Reasons for benching become clear
Houston head coach Bill O'Brien said Coutee had done a good job of paying greater attention to detail this week in practice leading up to Sunday's loss to the Ravens, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Coutee caught three passes for 25 yards Sunday, his first game action since a Week 7 loss to the Colts. It was during that loss to Indianapolis that Coutee had a costly drop and landed himself in the doghouse. The reason for Coutee's two-game benching was not clear until O'Brien's post-game admission. His good week of practice puts Coutee back to third on the depth chart, ahead of DeAndre Carter, as the Texans prepare for a Thursday night showdown at home against the Colts. Coutee's relevance…read more

Trio of catches in Week 11 loss
Coutee secured all three of his targets for 25 yards in the Texans' 41-7 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
Analysis: Coutee served as the clear No. 3 receiver Sunday with Will Fuller's (hamstring) absence bumping Kenny Stills up to the No. 2 role once again and DeAndre Carter not seeing a target in the contest. Coutee's numbers were modest, however, and he's surpassed 39 receiving yards in just one game this season. The slot receiver will look to put up better numbers against the Colts in a Week 12 Thursday night matchup, but he'll bump down to the No. 4 spot, at minimum, whenever Fuller returns to action.

Clawing out of doghouse
Coach Bill O'Brien said Friday that Coutee "did a good job" in the Texans' practices this week, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: O'Brien didn't clarify how that comment relates to his plans for Coutee in Sunday's game against the Ravens, but the second-year wideout would seem to have a good shot at avoiding an inactive status for the third contest in a row. In addition to his apparently positive work in practice, Coutee is aided by the fact that fellow receiver Will Fuller (hamstring) is listed as questionable for the game. Even if Fuller is ultimately ruled out, Coutee would likely rank no better than fourth in the…read more

No snaps in second straight game
Coutee dressed but did not play in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: This is the second straight week that Coutee dressed but did not get off the sideline. The 2018 fourth-round draft pick has dropped out of the offense without warning. DeAndre Carter has moved ahead of him on the depth chart and is serving as the third wideout while Will Fuller (hamstring) is sidelined.
