Goes unclaimed on waivers
Guice passed through waivers unclaimed Sunday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.
Analysis: The lack of interest from teams isn't a surprise considering what led to the Washington Football Team's recent decision to cut ties with the third-year running back. The legal process will play itself out before the NFL decides on potential punishment, so Guice getting a chance with another organization likely is in the distant future, if it happens at all.

Dropped by Washington Football Team
Guice has been released by the Washington Football Team following an off-field incident.
Analysis: In a statement Friday, the team announced the running back's release in the wake of an alleged potential domestic violence-related incident that led to multiple charges being filed against Guice.

Passes physical
Guice (knee) relayed Monday via his personal Twitter account that he received full medical clearance for training camp.
Analysis: After an MCL sprain sidelined him for Washington's final three games of 2019, Guice had previously declared himself fully healthy in late January, but his post Monday suggests he's now gotten in front of a doctor and passed a physical. Guice is expected to enter camp without any restrictions, but his history of knee issues through his first two NFL seasons make it unlikely that he'll be counted on to handle a heavy workload in 2020. When healthy, Guice profiles as the top option in the…read more

Recovered from MCL sprain
Guice said Friday that he's healed from the MCL sprain that caused him to spend the final three games of the 2019 season on injured reserve, Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Due to a trio of knee injuries -- two of which required surgeries --- Guice has only appeared in five contests since being selected by Washington in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. All of his injuries resulted in trips to injured reserve, so it's certainly encouraging that he's managed kick off the offseason healthy. The 22-year-old will now shift his attention toward rehab in order to rebuild strength in his knee and the muscles surrounding it, with the goal of retaining his speed and…read more

Rehabbing at team facility
Guice (knee) said he is feeling better and plans to stay in Virginia for offseason rehab, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Analysis: Guice will stay at the team facility to receive treatment for his MCL sprain while the Redskins continue their search for a new general manager and a new head coach. Given that he suffered his injury Dec. 8, the 22-year-old running back should be ready for the start of the offseason program in early April, though his mounting history of knee injuries remains a major concern. Guice is a clear favorite to handle the lead backfield role in Washington if he can just stay healthy, coming off a 2019…read more

Won't play again this season
Guice (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Washington won't press its luck with a player that has already suffered severe knee injuries in both of his first two pro campaigns. Guice thus won't suit up again in 2019 after spraining the MCL in his left knee this past Sunday at Green Bay. In five appearances this season, he averaged 5.8 YPC and scored two touchdowns on his 42 rushes while tallying seven catches (on nine targets) for 79 yards and another TD. Expect Adrian Peterson to lead Washington's backfield the rest of the way, with…read more

MCL sprain confirmed
Guice underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed a sprained MCL but no damage to his ACL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Rapoport adds that the organization will be cautious with Guice the rest of the season, and it's already been determined that he will not play in Week 15 against the Eagles. Guice suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to Green Bay and was unable to return. Adrian Peterson figures to be Washington's primary back Sunday and perhaps the rest of the season depending on Guice's recovery timeline.

Ruled out for Week 15
Interim coach Bill Callahan said Monday that Guice (knee) has been ruled out for the Redskins' Week 15 matchup with the Eagles, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The results of the MRI that Guice underwent earlier Monday aren't yet available, but the Redskins apparently aren't willing to take any chances with the running back after he injured his left knee in Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Packers. That knee is the same one in which Guice tore his ACL in the 2018 preseason, wiping out his entire rookie campaign. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed shortly after the contest that the Redskins believe Guice may have suffered an MCL sprain, and if the MRI…read more

May have MCL sprain
Guice may have suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during Sunday's 20-15 loss at Green Bay, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: For a player with two significant knee injuries on his medical chart in less than two seasons as a pro, Guice is in danger of missing game action yet again. An MRI will reveal the extent of the issue no later than Monday, per John Keim of ESPN.com. In the wake of this development, the Redskins may turn to Adrian Peterson as their primary running back, with Chris Thompson and Wendell Smallwood in reserve roles.

MRI on tap
Guice (knee) will have an MRI on Monday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Guice exited Sunday's loss to the Packers with a lower-body injury that was first described as being to his leg before more specifics were divulged. The second-year back has a rather infamous history of knee injuries, so all parties will be hoping Guice can avoid missing the balance of the season.

Ruled out of Sunday's contest
Guice (knee) won't return to Sunday's game in Green Bay.
Analysis: Guice suffered a knee injury at the end of a 23-yard run in the second quarter, thus ending his day with five carries for 42 yards. Due to his rich history of serious knee concerns, his status will be one to watch in the coming days. The Redskins are left with Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson and Wendell Smallwood at running back.

Picks up knee injury
Guice suffered a knee injury during Sunday's game at Green Bay.
Analysis: Guice ripped off a 23-yard run in the middle of the second quarter, but upon getting tackled he remained on the turf before limping to the sideline. He's already sustained two serious knee injuries in his pro career, so the current issue is cause for concern. The Redskins will turn to Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson and potentially Wendell Smallwood as long as Guice is sidelined.

Scores twice in career game
Guice carried 10 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Panthers. He also caught two of three targets for an additional eight yards in the 29-21 win.
Analysis: Although Guice came in with just 74 rushing yards in three prior outings this season, he exploded for 12.9 yards per carry while topping the 100-yard mark for the first time. He also scored his first two NFL rushing touchdowns on a pair of one-yard plunges to cap off his excellent performance. Guice should have every opportunity to flourish down the stretch and will look to do so in a favorable matchup next Sunday against the Packers.

Bottled up in win
Guice ran for 32 yards on 10 carries and had a six-yard catch during Sunday's 19-16 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Guice enjoyed an even split of work Sunday with veteran Adrian Peterson, both struggling to gain many yards on 11 total touches apiece. Washingon's rush offense has struggled over the past two weeks, and while Peterson can hang his hat on a handful of big performances from earlier the season, Guice is averaging just 2.7 yards per carry in three games this season. A favorable matchup comes Sunday against a Carolina defense that surrenders 4.9 yards per carry, but opponents figure to crowd the…read more

Vying for work in three-man backfield
Guice will be forced to contend with Adrian Peterson and Wendell Smallwood for snaps and touches out of the backfield Sunday against the Lions with Chris Thompson (toe) inactive for the contest, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The Washington running-back room looked like it could become even more crowded in Week 12 with Chris Thompson carrying a questionable tag into the matchup, but he was ultimately ruled out for a fifth consecutive game. With the pass-catching specialist still out of the mix, the status quo will remain in place for the three available backs, though how the workload will be divvied up between the trio is difficult to predict. Smallwood led the group with a 44 percent offensive snap share in the…read more

Backfield suddenly jumbled
Guice may have to contend with Chris Thompson (toe) for reps Sunday against the Lions, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Sidelined since picking up a turf toe injury Week 6, Thompson practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday and Thursday, opening the door for a return to action Week 12. Meanwhile, Adrian Peterson has been a DNP both days, but interim coach Bill Callahan maintains he'll return Friday and play Sunday, per Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic. If Peterson and Thompson are active, the development could hinder Guice's usage. With just Peterson to contend with this past Sunday versus the Jets, Guice earned…read more

Scores in return from injury
Guice ran for 24 yards on seven carries and scored a 45-yard touchdown on his only reception during Sunday's 34-17 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: It's hard to believe that 2018 second-round pick Guice had not tallied an NFL touchdown prior to Week 11, but he got off the schneid in dramatic fashion Sunday, catching a screen pass from Dwayne Haskins, weaving down the right sideline and into the end zone to provide himself and Haskins with a mutual first career TD. Guice garnered just seven carries on the afternoon to Adrian Peterson's nine, but with Washington well outside of the playoff mix, there's motivation for the coaching staff to…read more

In line for plenty of work
Interim coach Bill Callahan is "confident" Guice (knee) will get many chances to contribute Sunday against the Jets, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Analysis: First and foremost, Guice will work behind Adrian Peterson in his first game action since Week 1, per Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic. Callahan seemed to imply Guice will play the change-of-pace role in the Redskins offense that typically belongs to Chris Thompson, who is expected to remain out Sunday with a turf toe injury. In any case, Guice's touch count is to be determined after Peterson commanded 20 per game in the four contests before the Redskins' Week 10 bye.

Back on 53-man roster
The Redskins activated Guice (knee) from injured reserve Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The team is in the midst of its bye week, but Guice will be ready to roll when the Redskins next take the field Nov. 17 against the Jets. It's unclear if he'll immediately retake the reins from Adrian Peterson as the No. 1 running back, but there's little doubt he'll be in the mix with rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins expected to keep the starting job for that contest. The 2018 second-round pick will be looking to avoid the injury bug moving forward, as he's played in just one of a possible 25…read more
