Torn pec feared
Smith is believed to have suffered a torn pectoral muscle during Thursday's 31-24 win over the Cowboys, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Smith was forced out of action during the first quarter and wasn't able to return. The second-year linebacker will undergo an MRI on Friday to get further information about his injury, and if the torn pectoral is confirmed, he'll likely miss the rest of the 2019 season. Smith leads the Bears with 101 tackles (66 solo) through 12 games.

Potentially serious injury
Coach Matt Nagy said after Thursday's 31-24 win over the Cowboys that the pectoral injury Smith suffered in the game "does not look good for him."
Analysis: Smith picked up the injury in the first quarter of the game and was unable to return. Kevin Pierre-Louis stepped in for Smith at inside linebacker and did an admirable job, racking up six tackles (five solo) while helping to slow down an oftentimes explosive Dallas offense. The Bears will certainly miss Smith if he's out for an extended period of time, though, as he comfortably leads the team with 99 tackles on the season.

Ruled out with pec
Smith has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Cowboys with a pectoral injury, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Smith appeared to injure his chest area while attempting to tackle Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott on a two-yard touchdown plunge in the first quarter. The Bears' leading tackler looks as though he will replaced by Kevin Pierre-Louis at inside linebacker.

Massive performance
Smith notched a pair of sacks and 14 tackles in the Bears' 24-20 win over the Lions on Thursday.
Analysis: Smith was all over the field, as no other Bears player had more than eight tackles, and he also recorded the only sacks the team was able to generate. He's now posted at least 10 tackles in four of the last five games, and there are few better IDP options at the linebacker position.

Another strong outing
Smith posted 11 stops in the Bears' 17-7 loss to the Rams on Sunday.
Analysis: For the third-straight game, Smith posted double-digit tackles. After averaging eight tackles over the first six games of the season, he's become an elite weekly IDP.

Big performance
Smith recorded 11 tackles in Chicago's 20-13 victory over the Lions on Sunday.
Analysis: Even though the Lions threw the ball 46 times, many of those passes were short, which helped allow Smith pile up double-digit tackles. After a four-game stretch in which he averaged seven tackles, he's now posted 21 tackles over his last two games, and he's beginning to regain the form that he showed in his amazing rookie season, when he was performing as an IDP star.

Notches 10 tackles
Smith posted 10 tackles in Chicago's 22-14 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: In a game that Chicago trailed throughout, the Eagles piled up 35 rushing attempts, helping Smith to post his second-best fantasy performance of the season. After a standout second half of his rookie season, his performance has dipped a bit -- as he's averaging eight tackles but no sacks, making him a solid, but not elite, fantasy performer.

Productive afternoon
Smith tallied nine tackles in the Bears' 24-21 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
Analysis: With the Raiders pulling out to a big first-half lead, they were able to compile 39 rushing attempts, leading to a busy day for Smith. He's averaging nine tackles over his last three games, and he'll continue to be a reliable weekly starter in IDP leagues.

Removed from injury report
Smith (personal) logged a full practice Friday and was absent from the Bears' final injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders, Larry Mayer of the team's official website reports.
Analysis: Smith was a late scratch from last week's victory over the Vikings due to personal reasons. However, he has been able to practice in full this week and looks on track to suit up for Week 5, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Status for Week 5 uncertain
Coach Matt Nagy declined to say Thursday whether Smith will suit up Sunday against the Raiders, Madeline Kenney of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Smith practiced in full Wednesday and appears to have resolved his personal matters, but the situation may still be unfolding. Friday's final injury report of the week should shed some more definitive light on Smith's chances of taking the field in London.

Looks ready for Week 5
Smith (personal) is expected to play in Sunday's game in London against the Raiders.
Analysis: Smith was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, and it appears his personal issue has been resolved. He's still worth keeping an eye on when inactive are released 11:30 A.M. ET on Sunday in case he's a surprise inactive, but Smith looks ready to resume his duties as the Bears' starting inside linebacker.

May miss Week 5
Smith (personal) may not play in Sunday's game versus the Raiders in London, Chris Emma of 670 The Score reports.
Analysis: Coach Matt Nagy didn't offer any details. "I'm going to leave it as it's completely a personal matter," Nagy said. "I'm just going to completely leave it at that." Smith was still on the sidelines during Week 4's win over the Vikings, so the expectation is it won't be a lengthy absence. If Smith sits out again, expect Nick Kwiatkoski -- who posted 10 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble against the Vikings -- to fill in as a starter.

Won't play in Week 4
Smith (personal) is officially listed as inactive for Sunday's clash against Minnesota.
Analysis: It's unclear why Smith needed to be sidelined for the game, but his absence will certainly hurt the Bears defense, as the unit is facing the top rushing offense in the NFC. With Smith out, look for Joel Iyiegbuniwe and Nick Kwiatkoski to see an increase in reps.

Doubtful versus Vikings
Smith (personal) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Vikings.
Analysis: The details aren't clear, but it appears Smith won't be suiting up for this divisional matchup. The Bears' run defense will be further hampered, as Bilal Nichols (hand) is already ruled out and Akiem Hicks (knee) is questionable.

Big day
Smith recorded 13 stops in Chicago's 16-14 victory over the Broncos on Sunday.
Analysis: After a disappointing season opener in which he posted just five tackles, Smith came back with one of the dominant IDP performances fantasy owners had gotten used to seeing from him on a regular basis during his rookie season. He'll continue to be a top-shelf fantasy option each week.

Sits out third preseason game
Smith was rested during Chicago's preseason victory over the Colts.
Analysis: Smith was extremely productive as a rookie last year, posting numbers of All-Pro quality while playing only 880 snaps. He'd be hard-pressed to increase his per-snap production, but it can't be ruled out. We can, however, rule out the possibility of Smith playing fewer than 900 snaps in 16 games, so the volume should spike upward through workload at least.

Finishes amazing rookie season
Smith tallied six tackles in the Bears' Week 17 win over the Vikings, and he ended the campaign with 122 tackles, five sacks and an interception.
Analysis: Smith started a bit slowly after holding out and fighting through a hamstring injury, but after the Bears' Week 5 bye, he quickly proved that he was the elite player the team expected to see after investing a top-10 pick on him in the 2018 draft. He'll enter the second year of his rookie deal in 2019, and fantasy owners should expect him to be develop into a star in both a real-world football sense and as an IDP asset.

Smith recorded a sack and nine tackles in the Bears' 14-9 win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Smith has tallied at least nine tackles in four of his last five games which has given him a fantastic weekly floor, and the five sacks he's added give him an excellent weekly ceiling.

Reaches double-digit tackles again
Smith tallied 10 tackles in Chicago's Week 15 victory over the Packers.
Analysis: The rookie has been a superstar since the Bears' Week 5 bye, as he's reached double-digit tackles six times while adding three sacks and an interception. He'll continue to be a weekly auto-start IDP with elite upside.

Picks off first pass of career
Smith intercepted a pass while adding six tackles in Chicago's 15-6 win over the Rams on Sunday.
Analysis: Even though Smith's six tackles represented his lowest total in six weeks, he continued to be a stellar IDP performer by picking off a Jared Goff pass. Even as a rookie, he's become an elite fantasy option who still has room to improve.

Explodes in Thursday's win
Smith notched a sack and 11 tackles in the Bears' 23-16 victory over the Lions.
Analysis: As he's done for much of the last month, Smith was making tackles all over the field, including dragging down Kenny Golladay after a long reception on his way to posting double-digit stops for the third time in four games. He also sacked Matthew Stafford -- giving him three sacks in his last six contests -- and it looks like the rookie has emerged as a high-level IDP.

Smith notched a sack and 10 tackles in Chicago's Week 10 victory over the Lions.

Ties season high in tackles
Smith tallied 13 stops in Chicago's Week 9 victory over the Bills.
Analysis: After a slow start to the season, Smith has now posted a pair of 13-tackle performances along with one sack over his last four games. He's quickly emerging as an impact IDP who should be owned in most leagues, especially as he continues to improve throughout his rookie campaign.
