Mitigates inefficiency with score
Cook carried the ball 18 times for 62 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 14 win over the Lions. He also added two receptions for 13 yards.
Analysis: For the third consecutive game, Cook failed to record a run of greater than nine yards. However, he ultimately came through with a decent statistical performance due to a three-yard touchdown run just prior to halftime. Though there was some concern over the Cook's health throughout the week, his 20 total touches suggest that he was feeling good enough to remain a focal point of the team's game plan. Unless there is a setback, that should remain the case for Week 15 against the Chargers.

Cleared to play
Cook (chest) isn't listed on the final injury report for Sunday's game against the Lions, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Cook never returned after his early exit from Monday's 37-30 loss to Seattle, but the Vikings maintained all along that he'd be fine for Week 14. Coach Mike Zimmer didn't sound concerned when he spoke to the media after Friday's practice, noting that the chest injury won't impact Cook's ability to grip the football, per Chad Graff of The Athletic. Even so, it isn't out of the question for Alexander Mattison to see a bit more work than usual, especially if the Vikings are nursing a large lead.

Logs limited practice
Cook (chest) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Despite having his reps capped for the second straight day, the running back remains optimistic that he'll be able to play Sunday against the Lions, with coach Mike Zimmer also supporting that notion, per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Even if Cook ultimately gains clearance to suit up this weekend, the Vikings could choose to act conservatively with his workload, given his injury history along with the fact that Minnesota is a double-digit favorite in Week 14 while hosting a…read more

Limited to start week
Cook was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a chest injury.
Analysis: Cook was forced out of Monday's loss to the Seahawks in the third quarter due to what was initially believed to be a right shoulder injury, but follow-up reports have clarified that he's dealing with a chest issue. The star running back said prior to practice Wednesday that he's confident he'll be ready to play Sunday against the Lions, with his ability to play through the injury likely coming down to a matter of pain tolerance. Expects to play Sunday
Cook, who was forced out of Monday's 37-30 loss to the Seahawks with what is being described as a right shoulder injury, plans to play in Week 14, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "I'll definitely be ready to go Sunday," Cook said of this weekend's home game against the Lions.
Analysis: Supporting that notion is that Cook indicated he could have returned to Monday's game, but was held out for "precautionary'" reasons, while Alexander Mattison filled in as the team's lead back. Despite Cook downplaying his injury, there's a decent chance it will impact his practice participation in advance of Sunday's contest.

Downplays injury
Cook, who left Monday's loss to Seattle after taking a hit to the chest/shoulder area in the third quarter, said he sat out the remainder of the game for precautionary reasons, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Cook added he'd be ready to play next week.
Analysis: The running back indicated the blow landed on the same spot he'd sustained an injury to back in Week 11 against the Broncos, although the prior issue didn't force him off the field. Alexander Mattison took over and ended up with four carries for 22 yards, while Cook had nine carries for 29 yards and a touchdown before departing. He also added three receptions for 35 yards. While Cook is optimistic about his injury, check to see how he fares in practice this week.

Injury not considered serious
Cook's shoulder injury is not considered serious, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Cook finished the game with nine carries for 29 yards and a touchdown and three receptions (on four targets) for 35 additional yards before being sidelined in the third quarter. The third-year back will have a short week to fully recover before a Week 14 divisional battle against the Lions next Sunday.

Headed to locker room
Cook is headed to the locker room with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return to Monday's contest against the Seahawks, Ben Goessling of The Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Cook went straight back to the locker room after suffering a shoulder injury, as the play resulted in a fumble recovered by the Seahawks. Look for more updates to come as they are made available. In the meantime, it will be Alexander Mattison taking over as the top back with Ameer Abdullah and Mike Boone also active.

Cook (chest) was a full participant at Friday's practice.
Analysis: With confirmation that his chest injury isn't serious, Cook should be fine to handle his usual workload Monday night in Seattle. He's scored a touchdown in nine of 11 games this season, while the other two outings yielded 218 and 116 total yards.

Fine to practice
Cook (chest) is practicing Friday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Dealing with chest injury
Cook was listed as limited on Thursday's practice report due to a chest injury.
Analysis: After racking up at least 100 yards from scrimmage eight times in the first 10 games of the season, Cook sputtered in the Vikings' last contest Week 11 with 57 total yards, his second-lowest mark of the season. The team's ensuing bye week meant the running back wouldn't be listed on an injury report again until Thursday, at which point he was estimated as a limited participant. He'll have two more practices to prove his health ahead of Monday's game at Seattle.

Breaks through to cap comeback
Cook ran for 26 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and added five catches for 31 yards during Sunday's 27-23 win over Denver.
Analysis: Cook wasn't getting much of anything going against the Denver front in the first half and didn't do much better in the second half, though the Vikings were more successful getting him the ball in the screen game, and he did find the end zone on a three-yard zone run early in the fourth quarter. Carries offense in big way
Cook rushed 26 times for 97 yards and a touchdown and caught seven passes for 86 receiving yards in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Cook didn't have very many holes to run through against the Cowboys' front seven (3.7 yards per carry), but he was able to put up a huge fantasy line through sheer volume and a trip to the end zone (10th rushing touchdown of the season). The NFL's leading rusher also led his team in receiving, tying his season high of 86 receiving yards. Garners 116 total yards in loss
Cook rushed 21 times for 71 yards and brought in four of seven targets for 45 yards in the Vikings' 26-23 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
Analysis: Cook came into the contest with sky-high expectations due to the favorable matchup against a suspect Kansas City run defense, but he was mostly contained throughout the contest. The star running back had a long run of 12 yards, and fell short of the 100-yard mark on the ground for the third time in the last four games. Compiles 171 total yards in win
Cook rushed 23 times for 98 yards and a touchdown and brought in five of six targets for 73 yards in the Vikings' 19-9 win over the Redskins on Thursday.
Analysis: Cook made almost as much noise through the air as he did on the ground, checking in second only to Stefon Diggs in receptions, receiving yardage and targets. Cook's exploits in the passing game helped make up for the absence of Adam Thielen (hamstring) and led to his second-best receiving yardage total of the campaign. Cook fell just short of his sixth 100-yard game of the season, but he'll be an elite option in all formats heading into a Week 9 battle against the Chiefs a week from Sunday.

Scores two TDs vs. Lions
Cook carried 25 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Lions. He also caught one of two targets for an additional seven yards in the 42-30 win.
Analysis: Cook repeatedly gashed the Lions' run defense to the tune of 5.7 yards per carry on a career-high 25 totes. He scored an eight-yard touchdown in the second quarter and later put the game away with a four-yard plunge in the final minutes of the fourth. Cook has been an otherworldly performer this season, racking up at least 120 scrimmage yards and/or a touchdown in every game this season. Finds end zone in tough matchup
Cook rushed 16 times for 41 yards and a touchdown and secured both of his targets for 13 yards in the Vikings' 38-20 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: Cook was stymied by Philadelphia's virtually impenetrable defensive front to the tune of 2.6 yards per rush, but he still found his way into the end zone for the sixth time this season on a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Finds end zone in Chicago
Cook carried the ball 14 times for 35 yards and a touchdown and added six catches on eight targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: The eight targets led the team, but the TD didn't come until late in the fourth quarter as the Vikings attempted a comeback; until then, the Bears defense did a good job stifling Cook and shutting down Minnesota's offensive engine. The third-year back has scored in every game so far this season, and he'll have a good chance to extend that streak in Week 5 against the Giants.

Monstrous showing in Week 3
Cook ran for 110 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while adding four receptions for 33 yards during Sunday's 34-14 win against the Raiders.
Analysis: The third-year back is off to an absolutely electrifying start to the 2019 campaign, averaging 151.3 scrimmage yards per game with four total touchdowns through three weeks of play. Cook has re-established his explosive playing style since recovering from ACL and hamstring injuries that dulled his production over the past two seasons, leading the NFL in 20-plus yard carries entering Week 3, and picking up five or more yards on nine of his 16 rushes against the Raiders on Sunday. Impressive in season opener
Cook carried the ball 21 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against Atlanta. He also added two receptions for nine yards.
Analysis: Cook capped off a busy performance with rushing touchdowns of 19 and seven yards. The Vikings jumped out to a quick lead -- they led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 21-0 at halftime -- which afforded Cook 23 total touches even given that his day ended halfway through the final quarter. Breaks off huge touchdown
Cook carried the ball twice but gained 88 yards and found the end zone in the team's third preseason game against the Cardinals on Saturday.
Analysis: Cook only appeared on the team's first two offensive drives, but made a statement nonetheless. After having a four-yard rush negated by penalty to open the second series, Cook took another handoff and cut back through a large hole before outpacing the Cardinals' secondary for an 85-yard score. While it shouldn't be expected that Cook will see much more action prior to the regular season, he proved plenty explosive in his brief appearance.

Warming up prior to game
Cook is warming up prior to Saturday's preseason contest against the Cardinals, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Vikings listed a number of players not expected to play Saturday and the third-year tailback wasn't one of them, so it seems likely Cook will get at least some playing time Saturday. How much remains to be seen, and it's possible the 2017 first-round pick could be removed earlier than the rest of his first-string teammates, who are expected to play at least a quarter during the preseason affair.

Sitting out Sunday
Cook is unlikely to play in Sunday's preseason matchup with the Seahawks, Andrew Krammer of the Star Tibune reports.

Vikings assistant coach Gary Kubiak said he isn't sure if Cook will play in the preseason, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Kubiak said he still needs to discuss the matter with head coach Mike Zimmer, who primarily takes responsibility for the Minnesota defense. Cook has missed 17 games in two seasons, but he finished 2018 with a healthy, productive stretch that included 520 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in five December games. Cook will be joined by third-round pick Alexander Mattison in the Minnesota backfield, Eric Smith of the team's official website reports.
Analysis: The 2019 NFL Draft brought good news for Cook's fantasy value, as the Vikings used their first-round pick on center/guard Garrett Bradbury and then waited until No. 102 overall to draft a potential replacement for Latavius Murray (Saints). The team's shaky backup situation can be interpreted as a vote of confidence in Cook, who closed out last season with 520 scrimmage yards, 21 catches and three touchdowns in five December games. Stymied on ground
Cook rushed 11 times for 39 yards and brought in four of five targets for 21 yards in the Vikings' 24-10 loss to the Bears on Sunday.
Analysis: The Vikings' offensive line couldn't successfully open up any running lanes against the notoriously stingy Bears front, leading to a sub-par outing on the ground for Cook. The second-year back had offered glimpses of his upside over the prior four games, rushing for between 73 and 136 in three of them and amassing 17 catches over that span as well. Eclipses 100 scrimmage yards
Cook rushed 16 times for 73 yards and caught all three of his targets for 35 more in Sunday's 27-9 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Cook came back down to earth after blitzing the Dolphins for 136 yards on the ground and two touchdowns in Week 15, but he still served as Minnesota's primary running back, with Latavius Murray gaining just 28 scrimmage yards on 11 touches to Cook's 108 yards on 19 touches. Dominates Dolphins
Cook rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries while hauling in one of two targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 41-17 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: Cook got to the edge for a 13-yard rushing score in the first quarter and sliced through Miami's defense for a 21-yard touchdown in the fourth. Minnesota scored just 3:20 in and never relinquished that lead, which led to a run-heavy approach featuring 19 carries for Cook and 15 for Latavius Murray. Scores in garbage time
Cook rushed 13 times for 55 yards and caught five of seven targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 21-7 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Cook saved the Vikings from being shut out by hauling in a six-yard touchdown on the team's final offensive play. That marked Cook's second receiving TD in the past three games, but he surprisingly still hasn't found the end zone on the ground. Although Minnesota's offense was ineffective for the vast majority of Monday's contest, Cook's 13 carries were his most since Week 1, offering some hope his workload increases for this Sunday's game versus the Dolphins.

Workload increase not guaranteed
Though Cook is back to full health after missing five games earlier this season due to a hamstring injury, coach Mike Zimmer was unwilling to commit to the running back reclaiming a workload on par with what he received in 2017, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "We'll see. Every game is different," Zimmer said, in response to how extensively Cook would be used Sunday against the Seahawks. "Every game is different. This team plays a lot of extra guy in the box, so we'll just have to see."
Analysis: Before his inaugural campaign came to an end after four games due to a torn ACL, Cook looked like one of the NFL's top backs while averaging 18.5 carries and four targets per contest. In his return from the major injury in Week 1 of the current season, Cook handled 22 touches (16 carries, six receptions), but he's logged no more than 17 in any of his other six appearances. Analysis: This was a step in the right direction for Cook, who turned in an absolute dud against the Bears last week. Still, Cook's 2.9 yards-per-carry average against the 26th-ranked Green Bay rush defense down its best defensive lineman (Mike Daniels) was disappointing. Turns in dud against Bears
Cook gained just 12 yards on nine carries Sunday against the Bears. He lost two yards on his three receptions and also lost a fumble in the 25-20 loss.
Analysis: Cook had no room to operate against the Bears' stout run defense, turning in a performance that would hover around the zero-point mark in almost any format. The only positive for his fantasy owners is that the dynamic back exited the contest healthy. Offensive coordinator John DeFilippo vouched for Cook's health earlier this week, so we should expect the 23-year-old to suit up in an important matchup against the Packers on Sunday.

Breaks off 70-yard run in return
Cook (hamstring) rushed 10 times for 89 yards and caught all four of his targets for 20 more in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Lions.
Analysis: The majority of Cook's yardage came on a 70-yard run in the second quarter, but he got tackled on the five-yard line. Prior to that, Cook watched fellow running back Latavius Murray score from one yard out in the first quarter. Minnesota unsurprisingly eased Cook back in, giving both him and Murray 10 carries apiece in the second-year running back's first action since Week 4. Expect the workload distribution to skew much more heavily in Cook's favor coming out of the team's Week 10 bye.

Active for first time since Week 3
Cook (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: Passing a pregame warmup was the final hurdle for Cook to get past before gaining clearance for his first action since Week 3. After missing five of his last six contests, he isn't expected to play more than 15-to-20 offensive snaps, making it difficult to forecast his carry count. Cook will otherwise yield the remaining work out of the backfield to Latavius Murray.

Likely to play Week 9
Cook (hamstring) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions but appears likely to play, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Krammer's report essentially matches what Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com relayed Friday, with the Vikings likely to ease Cook back from a four-game absence with around 15 to 20 offensive snaps. Cook's return won't be confirmed until he completes pregame warmups without a setback, so expect another update on his status to come approximately 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. EST kickoff, when the Vikings release their inactive list. Latavius Murray is still expected to handle the bulk of the touches and…read more

Could play 15-to-20 snaps if available
Cook (hamstring) is expected to play around 15-to-20 snaps in Sunday's game against the Lions, but he'll first need to make it through pregame warmups without incident, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com.
Analysis: The Vikings had a similar plan back in Week 6 against the Cardinals, only to scrap it in favor of a heavy dose of Latavius Murray after Cook ran into some trouble during pregame warmups. The second-year pro is tentatively expected to return from a four-game absence on the heels of limited practice participation throughout the week, with multiple Vikings beat reporters suggesting his role will be quite limited. There's still some potential for a productive outing, considering Cook has 130…read more

Officially questionable
Cook (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune relayed earlier Friday that Cook is expected to return from a four-game absence and handle a limited role alongside backfield mate Latavius Murray, with the caveat that Minnesota had the same plan for Week 6 against Arizona. The Vikings instead ruled Cook out for that contest after his hamstring felt tight in pregame warmups, with the second-year player subsequently missing the next two games. It's only reasonable to expect another game-time call on…read more

Scheduled for limited role
Cook (hamstring) is tentatively scheduled to play in Sunday's game against the Lions and handle a limited snap count, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Vikings reportedly entered Week 6 against Arizona with a similar plan, only to scrap it when Cook's hamstring didn't feel up to par during pregame warmups. It sounds like he'll be headed for another game-time decision Sunday against the Lions, with kickoff mercifully scheduled for 1 p.m. EST. Given the uncertainty about his health and workload, Cook will be tough to trust in lineups even if he's cleared to play. His return would be bad news for anyone hoping to start Latavius Murray this…read more

Uncertain of return Sunday
Cook (hamstring) has been limited in practice this week and "feels great," but he's unsure if he'll be able to return Sunday versus the Lions, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Cook's presence in practice this week is a welcome development, but his expressed doubts are understandable. He elaborated on his uncertainty, saying that practice doesn't test out the viability of his hamstring like a pregame workout. When he last took part in the latter Week 6, he was unable to gain clearance to play, something that may be in the back of his mind. Whenever Cook returns, though, "it's going to be on," per Tomasson. As long as Cook is sidelined, the Vikings will give most of…read more
