Finishes with only 261 total yards
Richard finished 2020 with a 22/123/1 rushing line and 19/138/0 receiving line in 13 games.
Analysis: Richard didn't provide much of a return in the first season of a two-year, $7 million extension, with his role largely limited to obvious passing situations or garbage time. Even if they aren't ready to use Josh Jacobs in a three-down role, the Raiders aren't likely to bring Richard back at his scheduled $3.5 million cap hit for 2021. His return to the team likely would hinge on accepting a pay cut.

Hits COVID-19 list
The Raiders placed Richard on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Richard's placement on the list indicates that he's either tested positive for the virus or has been deemed a close contact of an infected person or persons. If Richard doesn't clear all health-related protocols and is ineligible to play in Sunday's season finale against Denver, Theo Riddick would step in as Las Vegas' No. 3 running back behind Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker.

Totals 23 yards on three touches
Richard rushed for 19 yards on two carries and caught his only target for four yards in Saturday's 26-25 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Despite being dealt only three touches, Richard managed to produce more total yards than fellow backup running back Devontae Booker on Saturday. The duo is slated to continue providing depth behind starter Josh Jacobs in Week 17, but Richard could see a couple more opportunities with the Raiders officially removed from playoff contention.

Full-go at practice
Richard (chest) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Josh Dubow of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Richard reinjured his sternum before last Thursday's loss to the Chargers. He played through the injury but logged just 10 total snaps. With a full-speed practice to start the week, Richard should be 100 percent for a Week 16 matchup against the Dolphins.

Reinjured in pregame warmups
Richard reinjured his sternum during pregame warmups Thursday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Richard still managed to suit up against the Chargers and draw five targets, but his injury paved the way for Theo Riddick to handle a slight uptick in snaps. The trusty change-of-pace man will benefit from a few extra days of rest before the Raiders face the Dolphins on Dec. 26.

Draws five targets in loss
Richard rushed twice for 10 yards and caught four of five targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 44-27 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Despite the return of starting running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), Richard managed to match his season high of four receptions as the Colts' lead grew throughout the second half. Richard has logged more than 20 offensive snaps in back-to-back contests, but his role figures to once again be game-script dependent on Thursday Night Football against the Chargers this week.

No. 2 role translates to five touches
Richard rushed for 11 yards on four carries and caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Richard handled primary backup duties at running back with Josh Jacobs (ankle) sidelined, but the former was dealt just five touches in 32 offensive snaps Sunday. Fill-in starter Devontae Booker couldn't get much going either with 51 total yards on 17 touches, but he figures to remain the No. 1 option in Week 14 against the Colts if Jacobs is forced to miss another contest.

Could factor into Week 13 game plan
Richard, who has missed the last two games, may play a bigger role than normal Sunday versus the Jets with Josh Jacobs (ankle) ruled out, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Richard was sidelined of late due to a chest injury and illness, but he's poised to help fill in with Jacobs on the pine. Still, Devontae Booker is expected to lead the Raiders backfield, so Richard could merely see a little extra volume as a pass catcher. On the campaign, Richard has hauled in 12 of 15 targets for 90 yards while averaging 5.9 YPC on his 14 rushes.

Back to work Wednesday
Richard (illness/chest) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Richard missed last week's loss to the Falcons with an illness, but as evidenced by this news, he appears on track to return in Week 13. Now healthy, Richard will likely assume his usual kick return role, as well as work as a change-of-pace back behind Josh Jacobs (ankle) and Devontae Booker for Sunday's game against the Jets.

Officially out Sunday
Richard (illness) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
Analysis: This illness hasn't been linked to COVID-19, so Richard has a chance to return next week against the Jets. Josh Jacobs should handle a lion's share of the backfield work Sunday, while Devontae Booker and, to a lesser extent, Alec Ingold rotate in.

Not expected to play Sunday
Richard (illness) isn't expected to play in Sunday's game against the Falcons, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Analysis: This will become official when the Raiders reveal their inactives list around 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. This illness isn't related to COVID-19. Richard's absence leaves Josh Jacobs, Devontae Booker and fullback Alec Ingold as the lone options in the backfield.

Good to go
Richard (chest) is absent from the Raiders' final injury report ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Falcons, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After consecutive days being limited at practice, Richard was a full participant Friday. Barring any setbacks, look for him to take on his usual role providing depth in the backfield behind Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker.

Limited Wednesday
Richard (chest) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday.

Won't play Sunday
Richard (chest) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Richard will be forced to miss his first game of the season due to a chest injury. With Theo Riddick (undisclosed) on the COVID-19 list, the Raiders won't have the benefit of much depth behind Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker on Sunday.

Deemed questionable for Week 11
Richard (chest) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Richard didn't practice all week after suffering a chest injury in last Sunday's win over the Broncos, so he may be on the wrong side of questionable. Regardless, Devontae Booker appears to have usurped Richard as the No. 2 running back behind Josh Jacobs, so Richard isn't expected to play much if he suits up. Theo Riddick likely will handle some work on passing downs if Richard is ruled out.

Still missing practice
Richard (chest) didn't suit up in Thursday's practice, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Richard missed practice for the second straight day dealing with the chest injury he suffered in last week's win over the Broncos. Richard is now in danger of missing Sunday night's game against the Chiefs, which would mean Theo Riddick could be active for the contest. Richard will likely need to log some form of practice time Friday to have a chance to play in Week 11.

Unable to practice Wednesday
Richard (chest) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Richard left early in this past Sunday's win over the Broncos, but postgame X-rays didn't reveal a serious injury. Nevertheless, his injury could still force him to miss some time. Devontae Booker has usurped Richard as the No. 2 behind Josh Jacobs anyway, but Theo Riddick could be active for this Sunday's game against the Chiefs if Richard can't go.

X-rays come back negative
Richard (chest) received negative results from his postgame X-rays, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Richard was forced out of Sunday's 37-12 win over the Broncos in the first half, before he had the opportunity to log a carry or be targeted. Devontae Booker impressed in his increased opportunity after Richard's departure, scoring twice while handling 16 carries for 81 yards. It's certainly encouraging that Richard's X-rays didn't reveal a serious injury, but a timetable for his recovery remains undisclosed.

Picks up chest injury
Richard was forced out of Sunday's game against the Broncos with a chest injury.

Limited role in win
Richard rushed once for three yards and caught his only target for 19 yards in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: Richard was dealt just two touches as the Raiders were able to rely on fellow running backs Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker with a lead for much of the second half. Richard's nine offensive snaps also marked a low since the season opener. The Raiders will be favored Week 10 against the Broncos, which might not bode well for Richard's usage if they're able to get ahead relatively early again.

Totals 18 yards in win
Richard took one carry for six yards and caught his only target for 12 yards in Sunday's 16-6 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Windy conditions in Cleveland forced the Raiders to rely on their ground game as Josh Jacobs amassed 128 yards on 31 carries, while Devontae Booker also contributed with five rushes for 29 yards. Richard actually out-snapped Booker by a small margin, but the former was limited to two touches after averaging just 3.4 yards per carry in a Week 7 loss to the Bucs.

Leads team with 24 rushing yards
Richard rushed for 24 yards on seven carries in Sunday's 45-20 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Richard's seven rushing attempts were a season high while his 24 yards actually led the team Sunday, but he wasn't targeted in the passing game despite Las Vegas playing from behind for the entirety of the second half. The Raiders will look to improve upon a disappointing 3.2 YPC during their upcoming Week 8 tilt against the Browns.

Adds four receptions vs. Chiefs
Richard took one carry for four yards and caught four passes on five targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 40-32 win over the Chiefs.
Analysis: Richard did not appear to be hampered by the minor ankle injury that limited his practice participation earlier in the week, ultimately notching a season high in receptions Sunday. Richard's ceiling figures to remain capped following the Raiders' Week 6 bye, however, as fellow running backs Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker are at full strength.

Coach Jon Gruden said Monday that Richard tweaked his ankle during Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Bills, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Gruden said he isn't yet sure about Richard's status for Week 5's upcoming matchup in Kansas City. Richard played his usual change-of-pace role versus Buffalo, recording one carry for six yards while securing two of four targets for 10 yards. If he were to miss any time, Devontae Booker would stand to handle an expanded role behind top running back Josh Jacobs.

Tallies three receptions in loss
Richard rushed for 14 yards on his only carry and caught all three of his targets for eight yards in Sunday's 36-20 loss to the Patriots. He also registered a 22-yard kickoff return.
Analysis: Richard earned a season-high four offensive touches as the Raiders trailed for the entirety of the second half in New England, but the reserve running back averaged only 2.7 yards per catch Sunday. Finds end zone in stadium opener
Richard registered 26 rushing yards and a touchdown on two carries, and he also logged 30 yards on his only kickoff return during Monday's 34-24 win against the Saints.
Analysis: The 26-year-old back overcame a fumble to provide Las Vegas with a crucial fourth-quarter score, taking a Derek Carr pitch and streaking 20 yards down the right sideline as the Raiders captured a two-possession lead with 7:43 remaining on the clock. Richard got zero carries and just one offensive touch in the season opener against Carolina, but a game-breaking play such as this may slightly increase his involvement in the coming weeks.

Limited to one touch Week 1
Richard caught his lone target for 15 yards in Sunday's 34-30 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Richard was expected to be the No. 2 option behind workhorse Josh Jacobs, but fellow running back Devontae Booker was dealt seven touches as he took four carries for 29 yards and caught three passes for 23 yards, while Richard played just seven offensive snaps. Hunter Renfrow also handled punt returns instead of Richard, so the latter's overall involvement (or lack thereof) should continue to be monitored in Week 2 against the Saints.

Retains third-down role in Vegas
Richard will line up as the No. 2 running back with the Raiders and is also expected to return punts, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Richard faced competition for his pass-catching role in training camp, as the team drafted former wide receiver Lynn Bowden to play running back and signed Theo Riddick in August. However, due to a favorable contract and his own merit, Richard secured the No. 2 job behind Josh Jacobs while Bowden was shipped to Miami. Richard is expected to retain a pass-catching role out of the backfield in 2020, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Richard signed a two-year, $7 million contract back in February, while fellow running back DeAndre Washington departed for Kansas City. The Raiders clearly have been pleased with Richard's work on passing downs, but they also have a starter (Josh Jacobs) who has shown some receiving skills and a rookie third-round pick (Lynn Bowden) who could eventually challenge Richard. Analysis: Richard has spent his entire four-year NFL career in Oakland, and he's now set to remain with the Raiders as the team transitions to Las Vegas. The 26-year-old plays a valuable change-of-pace role in the Raiders offense, and he also offers upside in the kick return game on special teams. No. 2 role on tap Week 17
Richard is set to serve as the No. 2 running back behind DeAndre Washington in Sunday's Week 17 tilt against the Broncos with Josh Jacobs (shoulder) inactive for the contest.
Analysis: Richard couldn't do much with a similar opportunity in Week 16 against the Chargers, rushing just five times for 11 yards and notching four receptions for another 18 yards. Richard rushed once for 11 yards and caught two passes for 25 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: Richard enjoyed a slight increase in usage during Week 14's loss to the Titans since Josh Jacobs (shoulder) was out, generating 46 yards on nine touches. However, Jacobs played against the Jaguars and rushed 24 times for 89 yards, leaving Richard and DeAndre Washington with limited utility. On tap for expanded opportunity
Richard is in line for a sharp increase in workload Week 14 against the Titans with Josh Jacobs (shoulder) declared inactive for the contest.
Analysis: Richard should see a nice increase from the single-digit carries he's logged in every game this season with Jacobs out of action, although backfield mate DeAndre Washington will be around to share in the workload. The Raiders come into Week 14 with the seventh-highest rushing play percentage (45.5) in the league, but it remains to be seen if coach Jon Gruden will lean that heavily on the ground attack with the star rookie sitting.

Richard took one carry for two yards and caught one of two targets for six yards in Sunday's 40-9 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Richard also amassed 60 kickoff return yards on three attempts, but he was relatively uninvolved from an offensive standpoint just one week after leading the Raiders in receiving during a similar blowout loss to the Jets. Richard rushed twice for four yards and caught six of seven targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 34-3 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Richard saw some extra playing time with Josh Jacobs getting removed in the third quarter of the blowout loss to avoid any potential injuries to the starter. The receiving back made the most of his usage, leading the team in catches, targets and receiving yards thanks to his work on checkdowns.
