Done for the day
Breeland (head) is officially ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's divisional-round matchup.
Analysis: While it is currently unclear whether Breeland suffered a concussion, the cornerback exited Sunday's matchup during the second half. With Rashad Fenton out as well, Antonio Hamilton and Charvarius Ward will continue cornerback duties for the final few minutes of the game.

Green light for Week 13
Breeland (illness) will play in Sunday's game versus the Broncos.
Analysis: After missing back-to-back practices to begin the week, Breeland worked at full speed Friday and is good to go for Sunday's divisional tilt. Breeland continues to be active in coverage, as he's recorded 28 tackles, four pass breakups and two interceptions through seven games. He draws an encouraging matchup this week against Broncos quarterback Drew Lock, who has tossed 11 interceptions over the past six outings.

Misses practice with stomach bug
Breeland (illness) didn't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Analysis: Breeland is dealing with a stomach illness. He'll have two more chances to return to practice before Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Set to return from suspension
Breeland has served his four-game suspension and is eligible to return Sunday against the Raiders, Mike Clay of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Breeland was suspended following an April arrest for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The Chiefs' passing defense has been sturdy through the first quarter of the season, allowing 195 passing yards per game (third in the league) and four total passing touchdowns (third). Nevertheless, Breeland should be a welcomed addition to the secondary and likely will contribute immediately.

Four-game ban upheld
Breeland has been suspended four games for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Since being a part of the Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning squad, Breeland was arrested in late April and handed the aforementioned ban, which he appealed. The suspension has been upheld, meaning he won't make his season debut until Week 5 against the Raiders in Oct. 11. While he's away from the team, there isn't a clear-cut favorite to man the other starting cornerback spot opposite Charvarius Ward.

Facing four-game suspension
Breeland is facing a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy but is appealing the ban, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network report.
Analysis: According to Pelissero, the violation is unrelated to Breeland's arrest Tuesday on five charges, which included one for marijuana possession. The NFL's new collective bargaining agreement grants more leniency to those who violate the substance-abuse policy, so Breeland may have a decent case for having his four-game ban reduced. The other charges Breeland is facing following Tuesday's arrest could run afoul of the league's personal conduct policy, however, so it appears more likely than not…read more

Arrested on multiple charges
Breeland was arrested Tuesday in York County, S.C. on multiple charges, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.
Analysis: According to the report, Breeland is facing charges of resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license. The Chiefs are aware of Breeland's arrest but won't comment further on the matter. Breeland re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year deal this offseason with the expectation that he would play a key role in the…read more

Staying with KC
Breeland is re-signing with the Chiefs on a one-year contract, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It's been a tough free agent market for defensive backs, and Breeland apparently won't be any exception, settling for a one-year deal with a maximum value of $4.5 million. Nobody will mistake the 28-year-old for a shutdown corner, but Breeland did start 15 regular-season games and all three playoff contests for the Chiefs last year, highlighted by an interception in the Super Bowl.

Posts another solid campaign
Breeland collected 48 tackles (37 solo) and two interceptions (one pick-six) over 16 regular-season games in 2019.
Analysis: Breeland was only okay in coverage but a strong contributor against the run, which is an area he's excelled in for the majority of his career. He's set to enter free agency again after signing a one-year contract with the Chiefs last offseason and could be in line for a multi-year deal this time around.

No injury designation
Breeland (illness) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report.
Analysis: Breeland left the season finale early with an illness, but he recovered during the Chiefs' bye week and will be good to go for Sunday's divisional-round matchup versus the Texans. The 27-year-old cornerback has allowed 8.7 yards per target and five touchdowns this season, and he'll start Sunday.

Falls ill Sunday
Breeland (illness) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Analysis: It's unclear how serious the illness is, but it's forced him to miss game time. As long as Breeland is sidelined with the ailment, look for Kendall Fuller to see an increase in snaps.

Good to go Sunday
Breeland (shoulder) won't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the VIkings.
Analysis: Breeland began the week as a non-participant but was able to practice fully Friday to avoid the questionable tag. The 27-year-old was limited to a season-low 42 defensive snaps last week against Green Bay, but he could return to an every-down role versus the Vikings if his shoulder holds up.
