Held in check in loss
Allen recorded six receptions for 52 yards on eight targets in Sunday's 35-32 overtime loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Allen compiled 25 of his 52 receiving yards on the team's 19-play, 83-yard drive to end regulation, but that essentially counted for all of the veteran's big-play production. Allen finished the 2021 campaign with his fifth consecutive 130-plus target season and also registered 1,100-plus receiving yards and at least 100 receptions for the fourth time in the last five years despite the emergence of Mike Williams and gradual improvement from rookie Joshua Palmer. While Williams became the first…read more

Salvages day with TD
Allen caught just four of his nine targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Allen struggled to gain much separation in this contest, often matching up against sensational rookie Patrick Surtain, with the Broncos cornerback routinely getting the upper hand. The veteran wide receiver did tally his 100th reception for the third consecutive season and found the end zone for the sixth time this season, and he appears poised for another solid game next week in a win-and-you're-in divisional battle against the Raiders.

Blanketed by Texans
Allen recorded four receptions on six targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 41-29 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: For the second time in his last three games, Allen was held to less than 40 receiving yards. The six targets were his lowest in a game since Week 6 and snapped a seven-contest stretch during which he got at least eight looks in the passing game. Given his track record, Allen has a good chance to bounce back in Week 17 against Denver despite a relatively difficult matchup.

Scores in defeat
Allen tallied six catches on 10 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 34-28 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Allen's 29-yard reception accounted for the Chargers' longest play of the evening, but it was the slightly overthrown deep pass with 33 seconds left in the game that will go down as the biggest missed opportunity for both Los Angeles and fantasy managers. After failing to score a touchdown from Weeks 9-12, the veteran wideout now has three over the last two games, with a missed contest due to COVID-19 sandwiched in between.

Comes off COVID-19 list
The Chargers activated Allen (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
Analysis: At the time Allen tested positive for COVID-19 last Monday, it was known that he was vaccinated, giving him a chance to clear league protocols and play this past Sunday against the Giants. He wasn't able to do so, but he now is free and clear ahead of Thursday's contest against the Chiefs. The Chargers listed Mike Williams (heel) as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, so Allen could take on even greater target share Week 15 if his fellow wideout is limited or sidelined.

Coach expects Week 15 return
Coach Brandon Staley expects Allen (illness) to clear COVID-19 protocols in time to play Thursday against the Chiefs, Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Allen will need to be removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list in order to suit up, but Staley's optimistic that will happen barring any setbacks. Quarterback Justin Herbert didn't have any trouble carving up the Giants secondary in Allen's absence Sunday, tossing touchdowns to Jalen Guyton, Josh Palmer and Jared Cook en route to a 37-21 win.

Won't play Sunday
Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Allen (illness) won't be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: While Allen didn't make enough progress in his recovery from COVID-19 to suit up this weekend, the Chargers anticipate fellow wideout Mike Williams coming off the list Saturday, after he was deemed a close contact of Allen. Without Allen, the Chargers will likely rely more on Jalen Guyton and Josh Palmer to pick up snaps at receiver alongside Williams.

Could still play Week 14
Allen (illness), who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after testing positive for the virus, is vaccinated and could have a chance to clear all protocols prior to the Chargers' Week 14 game against the Giants, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Unvaccinated players that test positive are automatically subject to 10-day quarantines, while vaccinated players that test positive are eligible to rejoin their teams as soon as they're asymptomatic for at least 48 hours and able to turn in two negative COVID-19 tests at least 24 hours apart. In the majority of similar cases this season, vaccinated players have typically needed more than a week to clear protocols, but the Steelers' T.J. Watt notably bucked the trend Week 13, returning to the…read more

Tests positive for COVID-19
Allen's placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday was the result of a positive test for the virus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Allen has been his usual productive self this season -- 86 catches for 929 yards on 124 targets -- but he only had two touchdowns before doubling that number this past Sunday in Cincinnati. Now, his status is in question following Monday's development. Coach Brandon Staley told Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register that Allen is "day-to-day right now, and hopefully we'll have some good news on him in the next few days." A lot of that depends on Allen's vaccination status. If he's able…read more

Hits reserve/COVID-19 list
The Chargers placed Allen (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The vaccination status of Allen is unclear, but he's now in danger of missing his first game of the season, one day removed from doubling his TD count on the campaign with two scoring strikes this past Sunday at Cincinnati. His status will be one to monitor as the week goes on, but if Allen ends up sidelined Week 14 against the Giants, Jalen Guyton and Josh Palmer would be in line for additional work alongside starting wide receiver Mike Williams.

Snares two touchdowns
Allen tallied four catches on eight targets for 34 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' 41-22 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
Analysis: It's a bit disappointing that in Allen's first game with a touchdown since Week 8 he suddenly saw his fewest targets since mid-October, but he did see a team high in looks as quarterback Justin Herbert spread the ball around plenty. It'll be interesting to see the type of workload Allen will receive next week against a hapless Giants team that did not have starting quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) and also saw backup Mike Glennon leave Sunday's matchup with a concussion. Tops in receiving again
Allen registered seven receptions on 10 targets for 85 yards in Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Allen continues to be a menace as a chain-moving target, but the continual red-zone reliance on Austin Ekeler and a trio of tight ends has siphoned off the veteran's normally consistent touchdown numbers. It's clear the Chargers have become reliant on Allen between the 20s, and with high-octane offensive matchups littering the latter half of the schedule, expect the 29-year-old to have a relatively safe fantasy floor the rest of the season.

Leads team in receiving
Allen caught nine of his 12 targets for 112 yards in Sunday's 41-37 win over the Steelers.
Analysis: After a bit of an uneven stretch to the season, Allen appears to be hitting his stride with 35 receptions and 391 receiving yards in the last four games. With four straight games of double-digit targets, it's clear the veteran wide receiver's role is relatively established even after off games from the offense each of the previous three weeks, but it's hard to imagine an uptick in touchdowns coming with Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams and an assortment of tight ends all emerging as priorities near…read more

Falls short of century mark Sunday
Allen caught eight of 11 targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: He just missed producing his second straight 100-yard performance and his fourth of the season, but Allen still led the Bolts in receptions, targets and yards. The veteran wideout is well on his way to another 100-catch season heading into a Week 11 tilt against the Steelers.

Active for Week 10
Allen (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Analysis: With that, Allen, who caught 12 of his 13 targets for 104 yards in last weekend's win over the Eagles, is in line to suit up Sunday and barring any setbacks will be in line to log starter's snaps alongside Mike Williams. Through eight games this season, Allen has held up his end up the PPR bargain by averaging 75 receiving yards on 10.3 targets per game while catching 57passes and two TDs in that span.

Slated to play in Week 10
Coach Brandon Staley expects Allen (knee) to suit up Sunday against the Vikings, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Allen officially is questionable to play after logging a pair of limited practices Thursday and Friday. He's been good for a significant target share on a weekly basis this season, earning at least eight in seven of eight games. Such volume could reap rewards versus a Minnesota defense that has conceded 8.7 YPT to wide receivers this season (ninth-most in the NFL).

Listed as questionable, expected to play
Though listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Allen (knee) is expected to play in the contest according to coach Brandon Staley, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Allen didn't practice Wednesday, but he logged limited sessions Thursday and Friday. Though Staley's optimism regarding the wideout's week 10 availability is encouraging, it still will be worth verifying Allen's status in advance of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. With a 57-600-2 stat line through eight games to date, Allen remains a PPR asset, given the steady playing time and target volume he normally garners.

Listed as questionable
Allen (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Analysis: Those relying on Allen in the fantasy realm needn't panic too much about this questionable designation, as coach Brandon Staley said Friday that he expects Allen to play, per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. Allen didn't practice Wednesday but was subsequently able to log limited sessions Thursday and Friday.

Allen (knee) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
Analysis: Allen didn't practice Wednesday, but his return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances of playing in Sunday's game against the Vikings. No practice Wednesday
Allen didn't practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Miller speculates that Allen was held out mostly as a precaution, a notion that would be supported by a return to the practice field on the wideout's part -- in any capacity -- come Thursday. In the Chargers' Week 9 win over the Eagles, Allen was on the field for 62 of a possible 69 snaps and caught 12 of his 13 targets for 104 yards. Overall, he's averaging 75 receiving yards on 10.3 targets per game.

Tops century mark in win
Allen caught 12 of 13 targets for 104 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: It's the fifth time in eight games Allen has seen double-digit targets, but it's the first time he's reached triple digits in receiving yards since Week 2. The 29-year-old has 57 catches for exactly 600 yards and two TDs on the season heading into a Week 10 clash with the Vikings.

Leading receiver in loss
Allen snared six of his 11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the 27-24 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Analysis: It's at least reassuring for fantasy managers Allen can survive a poor outing offensively from the Chargers, as the veteran receiver caught five passes for 50 yards in the demoralizing Week 6 drubbing by the Ravens before a similarly lackluster team performance Sunday. The Patriots' run-heavy approach seemed to discombobulate the Chargers' rhythm as quarterback Justin Herbert completed only 51 percent of his pass attempts, but the confusion seemed to impact Mike Williams (two catches for 19…read more

Five catches in lopsided loss
Allen caught all five of his targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 34-6 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Allen actually led the Chargers in receiving yards, but the team's entire offense couldn't get anything going in the blowout loss. After reaching the 100-yard mark in each of the first two games, Allen has topped 50 only once in the past four, as Mike Williams has established himself as the go-to guy in Los Angeles' passing game heading into the team's Week 7 bye.

Another six catches in win
Allen caught six of his nine targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 47-42 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Allen has at least six catches in all but one game this season, but the veteran stalwart did take a backseat Sunday to Mike Williams' career-high 16 targets. The bevy of looks gave the aforementioned big-bodied Williams two 40-plus yard receptions, but Allen also got in on the action, catching a critical 37-yard deep pass on the team's second-to-final possession of the game. Makes seven grabs
Allen caught seven of 11 targets for 36 yards in Monday night's 28-14 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Allen was restricted to underneath passes in the first half but nearly hauled in a deep crossing route in the second, only for the ball to glance off his fingertips. Without a gain longer than nine yards, Allen was held in check by the Raiders defense, but the veteran once again led the Chargers in receptions and targets to salvage some value. Following consecutive games with under 6.5 yards per catch, Allen will try to get loose in Week 5 versus the Browns.

Allen (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Raiders, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Allen was a limited participant in practice earlier this week, but a full showing Saturday confirmed his status ahead of the critical divisional matchup. Through three games, Allen leads the team in targets (33) and catches (21) and is second in receiving yards (258) despite the emergence of Mike Williams as a co-No. 1 option.

Allen (ankle) remained limited at practice Friday.
Analysis: Despite back-to-back limited practice sessions, so far there's been nothing to suggest that Allen's Week 4 status is in any danger. Analysis: We'll track Allen's status leading up to Monday night's game against the Raiders, but so far there's nothing to suggest that his Week 4 availability is in peril. Three games into the 2021 season, the veteran PPR-stalwart has recorded a predictably solid 21-258-1 stat line.

First touchdown of season
Allen registered eight receptions on 12 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Chiefs.
Analysis: The emergence of Mike Williams as a key red-zone threat has somewhat negated Allen's influence near the end zone, but the veteran wide receiver took advantage of shoddy goal-line coverage in the first quarter to tack on his first touchdown of the new campaign. Allen has logged double-digit targets in two of three games this season and should continue to see a relatively high workload given the pass-happy nature of the Chargers offense.

Goes over 100 yards
Allen snared four of his eight targets for 108 yards in the 20-17 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
Analysis: Allen's 42-yard reception was the longest play of the game, but the star wideout was otherwise kept in check with the Cowboys defense repeatedly bearing down on quarterback Justin Herbert. The veteran wideout should be set for a heavy workload next week against the Chiefs, having recorded at least eight receptions and 80 yards in each of his last four games against the aforementioned divisional opponent.

Allen caught nine of his 13 targets for 100 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over Washington.
Analysis: Allen and Justin Herbert looked like a seasoned duo as the passing offense shredded what was widely regarded as a difficult Washington defense. An uncharacteristic drop by Allen in the first half stymied a possible touchdown drive, but it was an otherwise dominant day for the veteran wideout. Won't play in preseason
Coach Brandon Staley said Allen and other key starters won't play in the preseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: In addition to Allen, Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler are the notables on the offensive side of the ball. Clearly, Staley doesn't want to get to Week 1 without one of the trio available. For Allen in particular, he sat out the final two games of last season due to a lingering hamstring injury (Weeks 16-17) and subsequent stay on the reserve/COVID-19 list (Week 17). Analysis: Allen missed the Chargers' regular-season finale after being placed on the COVID-19 list, but he'll now be eligible to return to team facilities. It's possible that he would've been unavailable for the win over Kansas City anyway, given that he missed Week 16 due to a lingering hamstring injury, but there's not yet any reason to suspect that his availability for the start of offseason workouts is in danger. Iffy for Sunday
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network calls Allen (hamstring) a "legit game-time decision" for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Analysis: Adam Schefter of ESPN previously suggested that the "plan going into Sunday is to let (Allen) recover" from his hamstring injury, but it appears as though the wideout will test things out during pre-game warmups before a final call is made on his status for the Chargers' 4:05 ET kickoff. Analysis: Allen was viewed as a game-time decision for last Thursday's tilt with the Raiders, but he suited up and saw a limited snap share (36 percent) in the Chargers' 30-27 overtime win. It's quite plausible that Allen's absence to begin Week 16 prep is maintenance-related, a scenario that would be supported by his return to practice in any capacity Thursday.

Limited to one grab in win
Allen (hamstring) secured one of three targets for 17 yards and lost a yard on his one rush attempt in the Chargers' 30-27 overtime win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
Analysis: The veteran had been an iffy proposition to suit up heading into pregame warmups, and even though he was ultimately active, he played a much lesser role than customary. Allen's reception and yardage tallies were season lows, while he saw only one more target than in a Week 5 battle against the Saints, during which he logged just 12 snaps due to back spasms. The Chargers "are concerned they won't have" Allen (hamstring) for Thursday night's game against the Raiders, and if they do, he's likely to be limited, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Allen's status will be officially clarified once the Chargers post their inactives approximately 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, but it's starting to look like he can't be counted on for his usual high-volume role in the team's passing attack this week.

Viewed as game-time decision
The Chargers are treating Allen (hamstring) as a "true game-time decision" for Thursday's contest against the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The same applies to Mike Williams (back), with the report noting that both wide receivers were sore following Week 14 action. With the Chargers on a short week, look for Allen and Williams to be tested out by the team during warmups. Clarity on the statuses of both players should arrive when the Chargers release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.

Listed as questionable for Week 15
Allen (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Raiders after being listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's and Wednesday's estimated practice reports.
Analysis: The Chargers also list wide receiver Mike Williams (back) and running back Austin Ekeler (quadriceps) as questionable. The expectation is that Allen will ultimately gain clearance for the Week 15 matchup and handle his usual role, but fantasy managers will need to monitor his status ahead of the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. More clarity on that front should arrive when the Chargers release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to kickoff.

Limited Tuesday
Allen (hamstring) was limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report.
Analysis: One day removed from being listed as a non-participant, Allen would have fit in some reps if the Chargers had held practice Tuesday. Considering the upgrade in verbiage, he seems to be trending in the right direction for Thursday's game at Las Vegas, but ultimately Wednesday's report will have the final word on his status.

Listed as DNP on practice estimate
Allen (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
Analysis: Allen was on the field for 57 of the Chargers' 73 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-17 win Sunday over the Falcons, while catching nine of his 11 targets for 52 yards and a TD. We'll revisit the wideout's status once the team hits the field next to see if he's simply managing a minor issue or is in any danger of being limited or out Thursday night against the Raiders.

Scores again in win
Allen caught nine of his 11 targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in the 20-17 win Sunday over the Falcons.
Analysis: Sunday's touchdown tied Allen's career high in a season, but perhaps more impressively, the veteran route runner continues to score from at least 10 yards out. An injury to Mike Williams (back) allowed the Falcons' secondary to converge even more tightly on Allen, which set the stage for Tyron Johnson (6-55-1) to have a career day, but the 28-year-old Allen was still a critical factor on the penultimate drive that ultimately saw Justin Herbert stare down Allen for what appeared to be a…read more

Held in check vs. Patriots
Allen caught five of 11 targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 45-0 loss so the Patriots.
Analysis: Allen, who received plenty of attention from the talented New England secondary, did next to nothing aside from his long gain of 24 yards. He had touchdowns in five straight games heading into this one but saw his streak end as the Chargers were surprisingly shut out for the first time since the 2014 season. While Allen has now been held under 50 yards for three consecutive games, each of those matchups has been quite difficult on an individual level. He should have a chance to break out next…read more

Continues touchdown streak
Allen caught just four of his 10 targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in the 27-17 loss Sunday to the Bills.
Analysis: Sunday marked the fifth consecutive game Allen scored a touchdown, this time snaring a nifty lofted five-yard pass in the back of the end zone after having mostly scored from 10-plus yards out in previous games. The veteran wide receiver needs just one more touchdown to tie his career high set all the way back during his rookie campaign (2013), though challenging other career-high marks might require a bit of good fortune throughout the final five games of the regular season. Makes 16 catches in monster game
Allen caught 16 of 19 targets for 145 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 34-28 win over the Jets. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Allen was blanketed with targets and tied a franchise record for receptions in a single game. He averaged just 9.1 yards per reception but produced an excellent yardage total through sheer volume and found the end zone in the third quarter to extend his touchdown streak to four consecutive games. This monster performance was especially promising after Allen was held in check a bit in his previous outing, and his rapport with Justin Herbert seems to be growing despite some inconsistency over the…read more

Scores late in loss
Allen caught three of his seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the 29-21 loss Sunday to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Allen scored late despite the game already being well out of hand, salvaging a bit of a down day for fantasy managers. The slow pace of the contest played a hand in the 28-year-old seeing a four-game low in targets, but Allen has at least registered scores in all but one of those games. Things should be better in Week 11 as the Jets travel to take on the Chargers.

Big game despite loss
Allen (illness) caught nine of his 11 targets for 103 yards and a touchdown in the 31-26 loss Sunday to the Raiders.
Analysis: Allen was a late add to the team's injury report thanks to an illness, but the wideout was able to pass multiple COVID-19 tests to clear him for the divisional matchup Sunday. It certainly didn't seem to affect Allen, however, as he once again led the team in targets and found his way into the end zone to close out the first half thanks to a bit of shoddy coverage on the part of the Raiders. Suits up Sunday
Allen (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Analysis: Allen was added to the Chargers' Week 9 injury report Saturday due to a sore throat that led the team to listing him as questionable/illness. Following that, Allen tested negative in back-to-back COVID-19 tests, paving the way for his clearance to suit up Sunday. With that, the Chargers' heavily targeted pass catcher should remain busy versus the Raiders. To date, Allen has racked up 53 catches (on 75 targets) for 548 yards and three TDs in seven games.

Allen (illness) is expected to play Sunday against the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Allen was added to the injury report Saturday due to a sore throat, but COVID-19 protocols kicked in, and since then he's tested negative in back-to-back tests. Now cleared to suit up Week 9, he'll look to take advantage of a Raiders defense that has allowed 9.1 yards per target (eighth worst in the NFL) and seven touchdowns in seven games to wide receivers this season.

Looks on track to play
Allen (illness), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, will be eligible to play after testing negative for COVID-19 earlier in the day, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Allen was added to the Chargers' injury report Saturday, not because of a positive COVID-19 test but because he was dealing with a sore throat. The fact that the wideout remains COVID-19 negative at least offers some reassurance about his health, and all indications are that Allen's sore throat won't prevent him from playing this weekend. Status for Sunday uncertain
Allen is dealing with a sore throat and has tested negative for COVID-19, but his availability for Sunday's game against the Raiders remains up in the air, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 28-year-old was added to the injury report Saturday and is officially considered questionable. Allen will need to pass additional COVID-19 testing to have a chance of suiting up Sunday. According to Schefter, the Chargers still hope the veteran wideout will be able to play but are preparing as though he'll be unavailable. Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton would lead Los Angeles' wide receivers if Allen is unable to suit up.

Lands on injury report with illness
Allen (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Raiders.
Analysis: Allen was a late arrival to the injury report thanks to an illness. As of right now it's difficult to speculate what Allen's status could be for Sunday's game, but the fact he was only listed as questionable should be at least slightly reassuring for fantasy managers. Allen recorded nine receptions on 11 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Broncos.
Analysis: Allen was overshadowed by Mike Williams in terms of yardage, but he still led the team in targets and receptions. He caught his third touchdown of the season on a nine-yard pass over the middle of the field late in the second quarter. Surpasses 100-yard mark again
Allen (back) hauled in 10 of 13 passes for 125 yards during Sunday's 39-29 win against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Allen was knocked out of a Week 5 loss at New Orleans due to back spasms but not before gathering in both of his targets for 29 yards and a touchdown. The catch, target and yardage counts in that game marked season lows for the eighth-year pro, but he clearly benefited from the Chargers' ensuing bye week, logging an LP/LP/FP practice regimen this week before Sunday's outburst. Good to go this week
Allen (back) practiced fully Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Coach Anthony Lynn observed that Allen -- who was limited both Wednesday and Thursday -- got better every day this week, per Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register. "Keenan will be fine," Lynn noted Friday. The Chargers' top pass catcher is thus poised to handle his usual workload Sunday, a context that has yielded a PPR-friendly 34/356/2 stat line for Allen through five contests.

Logs another limited session
Allen (back) remained limited at practice Thursday.
Analysis: Allen has been limited in back-to-back practice sessions, so we'll have to see if he approaches Sunday's game against the Jaguars listed as questionable or free from a Week 7 injury designation. So far, there's nothing to suggest that his availability for the contest is in any peril.

Listed as limited participant
Allen (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Allen left in the first quarter of the Chargers' Week 5 loss to the Saints due to back spasms, and the injury is apparently still bothering him to some degree two weeks later. That said, the fact that the 28-year-old was involved in practice in some capacity coming off the Chargers' Week 6 bye bodes well for his chances of being available Sunday against the Jaguars. Ideally, Allen would assuage any concern about his status by upgrading to full practice by Friday.

Set to practice Wednesday
Coach Anthony Lynn said that Allen (back) will participate in Wednesday's practice, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Lynn added that Allen, who was forced out of the Chargers' Week 5 loss to the Saints due to back spasms, isn't "100 percent" healthy, a hint that the wideout could begin the week as a limited practice participant. Allen should at least benefit from having the Chargers' Week 6 bye to heal up, but a final decision on his status for Sunday's game against the Jaguars will ultimately come down to how much he's able to progress in practice from Wednesday through Friday.

Will be fine, per coach
Coach Anthony Lynn said Wednesday that Allen, who dealt with back spasms during Monday's loss to the Saints, will be "fine," Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Chargers don't play again until Oct. 25, which should afford Allen ample time to move past the back injury. Even after departing early Monday, Allen still leads the team with 34 catches on 50 targets for 356 yards to go along with two touchdowns through five games.

Contending with back spasms
Allen was diagnosed with back spasms after suffering the injury on his touchdown reception in Monday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Saints, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Allen finished with two receptions for 29 yards and the score before departing in the first quarter. Because of the NFL's widespread schedule changes in recent days due to COVID-19-related postponements, the Chargers will be on bye Week 6 rather than Week 10, conveniently affording Allen some extra maintenance time before Los Angeles' next game Oct. 25 versus the Jaguars. The expectation is that the wideout will be at or near full health by that point.

Allen brought in eight of 12 targets for 62 yards in the Chargers' 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Analysis: The veteran wideout was due for a busy day with Mike Williams (hamstring) out of action, and he unsurprisingly ended up pacing the team in receptions and targets. Allen has now brought in 28 of 41 targets for 290 yards and a touchdown in three games with Justin Herbert under center after securing four of eight targets for 37 yards in his one game with Tyrod Taylor (ribs/lung) as his quarterback Week 1. Allen caught 13 of his 19 targets for 136 yards and a touchdown in the 21-16 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
Analysis: There should be no doubt who Justin Herbert's favorite target is. Just short of 100-yard effort
Allen caught seven of 10 targets for 96 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City.
Analysis: First-round pick Justin Herbert got his first NFL start in place of Tyrod Taylor (chest) and immediately worked to establish chemistry with the Chargers' No.1 receiver, directing a team-high 10 targets Allen's way. It's early, but the team's QB turmoil hasn't disrupted Allen's volume, and he could be poised for a productive Week 3 against a Panthers defense that just allowed Mike Evans to pile up 104 receiving yards and a TD.

Inks four-year extension
The Chargers and Allen agreed to a four-year, $80 million extension Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: After Allen puts pen to paper on the deal, he'll become the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL behind only Julio Jones (while tying Amari Cooper in AAV). Allen is expected to maintain his role as primary threat in the passing game, Hayley Elwood of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: Allen's role as the team's primary receiving threat was never in doubt, particularly after a third consecutive season with at least 90-plus receptions and 1,190 receiving yards. However, the change from franchise icon Philip Rivers to veteran backup Tyrod Taylor has caused some concern from outsiders, if for no other reason than lack of familiarity. Over 70 receiving yards again
Allen converted five of his 10 targets into 71 receiving yards during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Allen very nearly had a touchdown in the third quarter, almost hitting the pylon on an 18-yard reception. Melvin Gordon pounded his way into the end zone on the very next play, one of two instances in which Allen got the team within 10 yards of the goal line but didn't score. The 27-year-old has failed to eclipse 100 receiving yards since Week 3, but it's entirely possible Allen could still surpass his lofty 2018 numbers with a positive performance against the Chiefs in Week 17.

Allen caught nine of 10 targets for 99 yards during Sunday's 39-10 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Allen was targeted heavily with his team trailing throughout, and he finished with his best receiving output since Week 3 as a result. His long gain went for just 19 yards, but his heavy usage helped him to a solid day from a fantasy perspective. Allen's big game puts him over 1,000 yards for the season, and he should remain heavily involved during next Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Solid numbers in big win
Allen caught five of six targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 45-10 rout of the Jaguars.
Analysis: The Chargers' backfield was the engine of the offense in this one, and as a result Allen saw only six targets for the second straight game after getting 10 or more in four of the prior five contests. Despite the reduced workload, the veteran receiver posted his highest yardage total since he torched the Texans for 183 yards in Week 3. Allen caught all six of his targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Allen rebounded from a four-catch, 18-yard outing against the Broncos in Week 4, taking advantage of broken coverage from cornerback Chris Harris to record his second straight game with at least 60 receiving yards and a touchdown. A possible change at quarterback is about the only thing stopping Allen at this point, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com suggested the Chargers may look to bench Philip Rivers in the event the team continues to struggle.

Allen caught eight of 12 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 24-17 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Allen not only led the Chargers in targets and tied tailback Austin Ekeler for tops in receptions, but he scored his team's only touchdown of the night as well. That came on a seven-yard grab to close the third quarter, giving the veteran receiver his first end-zone trip since Week 3. Allen now sports good momentum heading into Los Angeles' bye week, but when he returns he'll face a Broncos defense that held him to a season-low 18 receiving yards earlier this season.

Paces pass catchers in loss
Allen secured eight of 11 targets for 68 yards in the Chargers' 26-24 loss to the Raiders on Thursday. He also rushed once for 18 yards.
Analysis: Allen paced the Chargers in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night, while also logging double-digit looks for the third time in the last four games. Allen's catch and yardage tallies were both his highest since a season-best 13-reception, 183-yard explosion versus the Texans in Week 3, and he'll look to build on Thursday's numbers versus the Chiefs in a Week 11 Monday night showdown on Nov. 18.

Kept in check once again
Allen (hamstring) caught three of his four targets for 40 yards in the 26-11 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Analysis: The Chargers didn't need to rely on Allen in Sunday's contest, as the likes of Austin Ekeler, Melvin Gordon, Hunter Henry and Mike Williams were more than enough of a problem for a hopeless Packers defense, resulting in the lowest target total of the season for the former Pro Bowler. Allen should have no problem getting back into the groove next week against a Raiders secondary that has allowed at least 140 receiving yards to wide receivers in all but one game this year.
