Released by Jets
The Jets released Ogletree on Saturday.
Analysis: Ogletree logged a 56 percent snap share in both of the games he played this season, but with Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) coming back from IR, the team needed to open up a roster spot. With the departure of Ogletree, expect Neville Hewitt, Avery Williamson and Harvey Langi to handle the reps at inside linebacker moving forward.

Activated for Sunday's game
Ogletree was elevated to the Jets' active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Ogletree started out on the Jets' practice squad despite racking up 80 tackles, six pass breakups and a sack over 13 games with the Giants last season. The Jets desperately need him in Week 2 versus the 49ers, especially since Avery Williamson (hamstring) could sit out, which would leave Ogletree, Neville Hewitt and Harvey Langi to handle the inside linebacker reps.

Joins Jets' practice squad
The Jets signed Ogletree to the practice squad Thursday.
Analysis: Ogletree spent the offseason as a free agent after having been cut by the Giants back in February, but he'll now begin the regular season on the Jets' practice squad. The soon-to-be 29-year-old is coming off back-to-back 13-game seasons as a starter for the Giants, so he could see an opportunity to join the Jets' active roster at some point this season.

Cut by New York
The Giants released Ogletree on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 28-year-old inside linebacker is known as one of the NFL's better athletes at his position, but his knack for making big plays hasn't been backed by huge tackle totals or snap-to-snap consistency, with Pro Football Focus grading him at 63.3 or lower in each of seven NFL seasons. Ogletree played every defensive snap in nine of his 13 appearances in 2019, recording 80 tackles (48 solo), six pass defenses, one interception and one sack. He picked off five passes in 13 games the previous…read more

Concludes 2019 with 80 tackles
Ogletree notched 80 tackles (48 solo), one sack, six defended passes and one interception across 13 contests in 2019.
Analysis: Ogletree has now logged two consecutive seasons with 13 appearances. The veteran inside linebacker has two more years remaining on his contract with the Giants, though the team can clear $9 million in cap space if Ogletree is traded or cut before Week 1, per overthecap.com.

Will play Sunday
Ogletree (back) is officially active for Sunday's divisional contest with Philadelphia, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Ogletree missed last week's game with the back issue, but he won't be forced to miss any more time. With the veteran ready to play, he'll assume his usual starting inside linebacker role for the final game of the regular season.

Officially questionable
Ogletree (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Eagles, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Ogletree wasn't able to suit up Week 16 against Washington due to a back injury, but he appears to have a shot at retaking the field following a one-game absence. Josiah Tauaefa and Deone Bucannon will likely play an expanded role on defense in the event that Ogletree is forced to miss more time.

Sidelined Thursday
Ogletree (back) is not participating in Thursday's practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Suffers injury Sunday
Ogletree (back) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Redskins, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The specifics surrounding the injury remain unclear, as the veteran left the game in the first quarter. As long as Ogletree is sidelined, Josiah Tauaefa and Deone Bucannon are in line to see an uptick in snaps.

Tallies nine tackles
Ogletree had nine tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: The nine tackles represents Ogletree's second highest total of the season, as he played all but one defensive snap Sunday. The 28-year-old has 63 tackles (37 solo), one sack and one interception in 10 games this season.

Snags pick Sunday
Ogletree accumulated two tackles (one solo) and an interception in Sunday's loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Ogletree halted a 12-play drive by the Bears when he picked off Mitchell Trubisky in the end zone for his first interception this season. The 28-year-old hasn't lived up to his lofty standards this season, however, racking up just 54 tackles (32 solo) and one sack through nine games. Ogletree also played all 76 defensive snaps in the game, an indication he's carved out a solid role in the defense.
