Closes season well
Jones recorded seven receptions on eight targets for 88 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-11 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Jones continued his recent trend of alternating between strong performances and duds. He landed on the positive side of that variance Sunday to top 70 receiving yards for the third time in his last five games. Jones' performance was highlighted by four receptions that went for double-digit gains while also finding the end zone for the fourth time this season -- and the first time since Week 6 -- on a three-yard catch late in the third quarter. Even while playing in an inept offense, Jones…read more

Totals 46 yards in blowout
Jones caught two of six targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 50-10 loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Jones tied with Laquon Treadwell for the team high in targets, though Jones finished with only two receptions and had barely half the yardage. The 31-year-old has been unable to show any kind of consistent production this season as rookie Trevor Lawrence continues to struggle at quarterback with minimal help around him. Jones enters Week 18 with 66 receptions for 744 yards and three touchdowns through 16 games.

Receives season-high 13 targets
Jones gathered in eight of 13 targets for 74 yards during Sunday's 26-21 road loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Jones was on the receiving end of exactly one-third of Trevor Lawrence's 39 passes, but he wasn't very efficient with them. Still, the increased volume allowed Jones to rack up his most yardage since going for 100 back in Week 6 against the Dolphins. Assuming he falls back to the 5-to-6 targets per week he's managed since the Jaguars' Week 7 bye, Jones may be hard-pressed to do much next Sunday at New England.

Held to 14 yards
Jones caught two of four targets for 14 yards during Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Jones tied for fourth on the team in targets, and it's now the second time within the past three games he's failed to crack 20 receiving yards. The 31-year-old has only 28 receptions for 281 yards and zero touchdowns in eight games since the Jaguars' Week 7 bye, and he can't be relied upon as a fantasy option down the stretch.

Gets back to relevancy
Jones recorded six receptions on seven targets for 70 yards in Sunday's 20-0 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Jones tied for the team lead with seven targets, as Trevor Lawrence took to the air 40 times. He accounted for the majority of his production on a few big plays, highlighted by gains of 31 and 14 yards. It was the first time that Jones surpassed five receptions since Week 6 and only the third time that he's topped 50 receiving yards in that span. Jones could be in a spot for another productive effort in Week 15 against the Texans, as he put together a five-reception, 77-yard, one-touchdown…read more

Coach denies rift
Jaguars coach Urban Meyer denied a report that surfaced over the weekend that he and Jones had a big argument in practice, Fox's Jay Glazer reported on Sunday's pregame show.
Analysis: Jones has been a disappointment with the Jaguars, catching just 48 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns so far. He's obviously not solely responsible for those poor numbers, but he has had some big drops this season.

Held to two catches
Jones caught two passes for 11 yards on three targets Sunday in the Jaguars' 37-7 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: It's been a difficult season for Jones and the Jaguars offense, and this matchup was one of the tougher ones on their schedule. Disappointing as it might be, Jones' numbers from Sunday can't be called surprising. While it's best to not get hopes too high with any component of the Jacksonville passing game, a Week 14 matchup with the Titans is probably more favorable than the clash against the Rams was.

Notches four catches Sunday
Jones reeled in four of seven targets for 43 yards during Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: Aside from a 21-yard reception at the two-minute warning of the first half, none of Jones' other three grabs went for more than 10 yards, and one of his targets was picked off by Atlanta safety Duron Harmon. Jones primarily has had muted performances this season working with rookie signal-caller Trevor Lawrence, with one 100-yard effort and three touchdowns (none since Week 6) in 11 games. The 10th-year pro will seek out a better outing next Sunday versus the Rams' 15th-ranked pass offense.

Makes four catches
Jones caught four passes for 52 yards on six targets against San Francisco on Sunday.
Analysis: Jones is pretty much overmatched in Jacksonville's No. 1 receiver role, which was supposed to be filled by DJ Chark (ankle) prior to his season-ending injury. Jones' line was serviceable on the surface, but the Jaguars passing game was never threatening and scored their one touchdown with just about three minutes left in the 30-10 blowout loss. Perhaps he can get more going against Atlanta's thin secondary in Week 12, but Jones might be dependent on garbage-time production in most of…read more

Limited to two catches in loss
Jones secured two of six targets for 35 yards in the Jaguars' 23-17 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
Analysis: Jones' yardage total, meager as it was, actually qualified as the second highest for the Jaguars on the afternoon. The veteran continues to see a solid amount of targets -- he's logged at least five in five consecutive contests -- but he's managed 35 yards or less in four of those games. Jones' next opportunity to parlay his looks into more production comes in a Week 11 home matchup versus the 49ers.

Struggles again
Jones caught three passes for 21 yards on five targets against Buffalo on Sunday.
Analysis: Jones continues to appear overexposed as Jacksonville's top wide receiver, and it might continue to prove difficult for him to produce when facing competent defenses. It's not clear whether the Colts might constitute that as a Week 10 opponent, but the overall struggles of the Jacksonville passing game have been discouraging to the point that every matchup appears risky for Jones' fantasy managers.

Ineffective Sunday
Jones caught five receptions for 35 yards on seven targets against Seattle on Sunday.
Analysis: Jones committed a painful drop on a play that would have given Jacksonville a third-down conversion, but the Jaguars had so many problems that Jones wasn't particularly high on the list of reasons why they were lit up 31-7 by a mediocre Seattle roster. Even if he's absolved of that failure, the fact is the Jaguars appear too dysfunctional for Jones to provide consistent returns for his fantasy investors. Grabs third touchdown
Jones recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: Jones bounced back from an inefficient Week 5 performance to reach 100 receiving yards for the first time this season. He delivered three catches of 20 yards or more, highlighted by a 28-yard trip to the end zone just before halftime. It was Jones' third touchdown of the season and first since Week 2. Jones had recorded only four receptions for 49 yards combined between the team's last two contests, so this was a strong bounce-back performance.

Disappears in Week 5
Jones caught one of five targets for 25 yards against Tennessee on Sunday.
Analysis: The Jaguars trailed the vast majority of the 37-19 loss and quarterback Trevor Lawrence attempted 33 passes, but rather than targeting Jones or Laviska Shenault (three targets), most of the usage funneled toward Tavon Austin (five targets) and Jamal Agnew (eight targets). It's not a winning blueprint for the Jaguars offense, and they likely understand that any success as a passing game will need to run through Jones and Shenault in upcoming weeks. Minimal production in loss
Jones brought in all three targets for 24 yards in the Jaguars' 24-21 loss to the Bengals on Thursday night.
Analysis: The veteran wideout ironically turned in his most meager production of the season in a game during which fellow starting wideout DJ Chark went down with a fractured ankle and in which Jones was also facing his original squad. The 31-year-old hadn't logged any fewer than eight targets in any of his first three contests, so Thursday's results can certainly be qualified as an outlier, particularly under the circumstances. Leading receiver again
Jones caught six of eight targets for 62 yards during Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: Jones continues to be the favorite target of QB Trevor Lawrence, as he led the Jaguars' pass catchers in catches, targets and receiving yards again Sunday. The veteran wideout appears to have a solid floor despite Lawrence's and the offense's overall struggles, with at least five catches and 55 yards through each of the first three games of the season, along with a pair of touchdowns overall.

Adds anther score Week 2
Jones caught six of 11 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 23-13 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Jones led Jaguars in catches and targets, as QB Trevor Lawrence completed only 14 passes for 118 yards on the afternoon. The veteran wideout has showed a strong connection with the rookie signal-caller through two games and appears to be the top option in the passing game. Jones has caught 11 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns through two games, and he's been the only Jacksonville weapon to provide worthwhile production in each of the first pair of 2021 contests.

Scores in team debut
Jones secured five of nine targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' 37-21 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
Analysis: The veteran wideout got his Jaguars career off to a good start, bringing in a four-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence with five seconds remaining in the contest. While the score was meaningless in the context of the game result, it capped a positive day for Jones, who finished second in receiving yardage and was a co-runner-up in targets on the afternoon as well. Recovers from shoulder injury
Jones (shoulder) isn't listed on the injury report for the Jaguars' season opener Sunday in Houston, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With Jones and DJ Chark (finger) both avoiding the injury report, rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence will have his full complement of pass catchers -- minus rookie running back Travis Etienne (foot) -- available for Week 1. Analysis: The 31-year-old has been dealing with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder over the past week, but there's never been much doubt about his availability for Week 1. DJ Chark (finger) and Tavon Austin (quadriceps) are also expected to be good to go against the Texans. That said, it seems safe to assume that the wideout won't play in Sunday's preseason finale against the Cowboys. Coach Urban Meyer indicated that Jones (shoulder) should be ready for Week 1 against the Texans, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: Jones has avoided a worst-case scenario with the AC joint sprain and looks to still be on track for the opener at this point. It will still be worth monitoring his progression leading up to the opener as Jones prepares to embark on his first season in Jacksonville with rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence at the helm. Analysis: The wideout's status now will need to be monitored as Jacksonville's Sept. 12 season opener in Houston approaches. Catches four passes
Jones caught four of five targets for 41 yards in Monday night's 23-21 preseason loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Jones hauled in a couple of passes for first downs from quarterback Trevor Lawrence on Jacksonville's lone scoring drive of the first half. The veteran figures to be a reliable outlet for Lawrence should he be named the Jags' starter as expected, and Monday's performance helped that notion. With top wideout DJ Chark (finger) likely missing the whole preseason, Jones' rapport with Lawrence could be useful early in the upcoming campaign.

Impresses early in camp
Head coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday he "can't overemphasize" the positive effect Jones has had on Jacksonville's wide receivers and the team as a whole, Eugene Frenette of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: The 31-year-old joined Jacksonville on a two-year, $14.5 million deal early in the offseason after spending the past five seasons in Detroit, and he's poised to work as his new team's No. 2 wide receiver. Jones has agreed to a two-year, $14.5 million deal with the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Jones' deal with Jacksonville reportedly includes $9.2 million fully guaranteed. At first glance, this looks like a pretty solid value for the team, with the 31-year-old having logged a 76/978/9 stat line for the Lions in 2020. Stafford reunion possible
Jones is expected to have interest in joining the Rams this offseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: An impending free agent, Jones is from Southern California, and the 30-year-old would presumably prefer to sign with a contender this offseason. Those two factors would make the Rams a logical destination for Jones, especially after the organization traded for quarterback Matthew Stafford. Jones caught passes from Stafford over each of the past five seasons in Detroit and connected with him for nine touchdowns in three of those years.

Goes off against Vikings
Jones caught eight of 11 targets for 180 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 37-35 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Finishing out the year as the alpha receiver in the absence of Kenny Golladay (hip), Jones' big day could have been huge had a third touchdown not been overturned by replay. The Vikings' young corners simply had no answer for the strong rapport between Jones and quarterback Matthew Stafford. Analysis: Neither Chase Daniel nor David Blough showed any ability to push the ball downfield to Jones after Matthew Stafford (ankle) exited at the end of Detroit's first possession. Dominates target share
Jones corralled 10 of 12 targets for 112 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 46-25 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Jones has proven himself as a high-floor fantasy asset with Kenny Golladay (hip) sidelined, but during Week 15, the 30-year-old established his second-highest receiving output of the 2020 campaign. An opening-drive TD catch gave Jones his seventh of the season, pulling him to within three of a career high (10) heading into a Week 16 home game against the Buccaneers. Held in check by Green Bay
Jones caught four of eight targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Yet again the alpha receiver with Kenny Golladay (hip) shelved, Jones was held in check by a respectable Green Bay secondary, and no Detroit receiver topped 66 yards despite playing from behind most of the game. As Golladay didn't practice in any capacity last Friday, it seems there's a good chance that Jones will continue to operate as the No. 1 wideout in Week 15, but his upside will be severely capped if Matthew Stafford (ribs) is forced to miss time.

Jones reeled in eight of 12 targets for 116 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 34-30 win against the Bears.
Analysis: With Kenny Golladay (hip) unavailable for a fifth consecutive contest, Jones cruised past his previous season high in receiving yards (96) while notching his sixth score of 2020. He's averaged 5.8 receptions and 70.8 yards per contest over his past five appearances sans Golladay. Can't do much with volume Thursday
Jones caught six of 12 targets for 48 yards in Thursday's 41-25 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Despite leading Detroit in catches and targets, Jones finished third on the team in receiving yards as he wasn't able to turn his volume into any splash plays. The veteran wideout has piled up 28 targets over the last three games, but his role could shrink in Week 13 if Kenny Golladay (hip) is able to return for a road clash against the stingy Bears defense.

Long touchdown negated by penalty
Jones caught four of six targets for 51 yards during Sunday's 20-0 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: Again serving as the clear No. 1 wideout in the absence of both Kenny Golladay (hip) and Danny Amendola (hip), Jones was close to having a big day had a 51-yard touchdown not been called back due to an illegal offensive formation penalty. Analysis: Jones started the week as a non-participant before upgrading to a limited practice Thursday and a full session Friday. Analysis: Jones and fellow starting wideout Danny Amendola (hip) both missed Wednesday's practice, while Kenny Golladay (hip) and T.J. Hockenson (toe) were limited participants. Analysis: Jones really hadn't taken advantage of any of Kenny Golladay's (hip) previous three absences this season, but he came through against a Washington defense that previously allowed the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers in 2020. With Golladay yet to return to practice and Danny Amendola (hip) possibly on the shelf as well, it seems like Jones could continue to serve as the clear No. 1 option in the passing game in the short term. Analysis: Again serving as the de facto No. 1 receiver in the absence of Kenny Golladay (hip), Jones somehow saw his third-lowest target total of the season. Analysis: Jones scored on a 25-yard crossing route on the opening drive and found the end zone again after Kenny Golladay (hip) left the game. While the veteran was otherwise held in check by a tough Colts defense, Jones could see an increased workload in the near future if Golladay misses time. He's played more than 80 percent of offensive snaps each game this season, but he's averaging only 2.8 catches for 29.2 yards, and he's seen just 10 targets in the three games Kenny Golladay has played. A matchup with the feeble Atlanta defense could help, though Jones was shut down by a similarly vulnerable Jacksonville unit last week.

Puts forth limited practice
Jones (knee) took part in Thursday's practice in a limited fashion.
Analysis: The activity level marks a step forward for Jones, who didn't take any reps during Wednesday's session. Assuming Jones can repeat his limited participation Friday or upgrade to full work, he should be in good shape to play this weekend in Atlanta. Through five games, Jones has been a disappointment for fantasy managers with only 14 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown across his 24 targets.

Misses practice with knee injury
Jones didn't practice Wednesday due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Jones is appearing on the injury report for the first time this season. The veteran wideout will have two more chances to increase his level of activity in practice ahead of Sunday's game in Atlanta, so there's seemingly not yet reason for fantasy managers to worry about his availability. Jones has been held below 10 receiving yards in back-to-back games, but if healthy, he'll have a good opportunity to get right against a suspect Falcons secondary.

Meager production continues
Jones caught two of five targets for eight yards during Sunday's 34-16 victory over Jacksonville.
Analysis: Although Jones' biggest catch of the day was wiped out by a questionable offensive penalty, he has officially gone back-to-back games with single-digit receiving yardage despite a pair of inviting matchups against the Saints and Jaguars. Meanwhile, the Lions appeared to make a concerted effort out of their Week 5 bye to give D'Andre Swift more touches. If that notion becomes a legitimate trend in the coming weeks, the 30-year-old Jones might have even more trouble carving out regular touches on…read more

Held under 10 yards vs. Saints
Jones caught one of his two targets for nine receiving yards during Sunday's 35-29 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: In a matchup against a Saints secondary that was without Marshon Lattimore (hamstring) and Janoris Jenkins (shoulder) for Week 4, Jones was contained to his lowest receiving output since Oct. 7, 2018. With Kenny Golladay back in the lineup the past two weeks, Jones has been held to four total catches (on five targets) for 60 yards. While Golladay nursed a hamstring injury Weeks 1 and 2, Jones attracted 14 combined targets, accumulating eight catches, 78 yards and a touchdown. An Oct. 18…read more

Finishes with 51 receiving yards
Jones caught all three of his targets for 51 yards during Sunday's 26-23 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Jones finished fifth on the team in targets while ranking third in both receptions and receiving yards. He made the most of the looks he received, but his reduced role is a direct result of teammate Kenny Golladay making his season debut. Jones still has the ability to break off big plays when given the chance, but his boom-or-bust profile could result in plenty of down weeks as well. With Golladay drawing attention from the Saints defense next Sunday, perhaps Jones will find himself called…read more

Finds end zone in loss
Jones caught four of six targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-21 loss to Green Bay.
Analysis: Jones' four-yard touchdown late in the first quarter gave Detroit a 14-3 lead, but it was all Packers from there. The veteran receiver is off to a pedestrian start with eight catches for 78 yards and a touchdown through two games. Jones will hope to pick up the pace against the Cardinals in Week 3.

Catches four passes
Jones caught four of eight targets for 55 yards during Sunday's 27-23 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Jones had one of the highlights of the game when he ran over Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson in the open field. While fantasy owners were probably hoping for more on a statistical level given the absence of Kenny Golladay (hamstring), it's possible Jones has a better chance of being productive when there is someone like Golladay available to take defensive attention away. It's not clear if Golladay will return for Week 2 against Green Bay.

Working out with younger teammates
Jones (ankle) acknowledged on Twitter that he recently hosted Lions rookie Quintez Cephus and free agent signee Victor Bolden for workouts at his residence.
Analysis: Jones spent the final three games of last season on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Considering he was seen planting and cutting on both of his ankles in the video he posted, it seems the 30-year-old is getting back to full health. Jones, in a contract year -- along with Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola -- is also giving the Detroit front office plenty of reason to keep him around -- n spite of his age and contract status -- given his displays of leadership.

Out for season
Jones (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Matt Patricia told Rothstein that Jones injured his ankle on the final possession of the Lions' Week 14 loss at Minnesota. Apparently, the issue is severe enough to keep Jones sidelined for the remainder of the season, which is a fate that has befallen him for the second straight year. Overall, he hauled in 62 of 91 targets for 779 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games in 2019. In Jones' absence, Kenny Golladay figures to be even more prominent in the passing attack, while Danny Amendola…read more

Held in check
Jones hauled in three of seven targets for 38 yards in the team's Week 14 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Jones racked up seven targets but managed to convert fewer than half into receptions. His longest gain of the day came midway through the first quarter, when he hauled in an 18-yard reception down the right sideline. On a positive note, Jones has shown some rapport with third-string quarterback David Blough, racking up 13 targets in two games with Blough under center. Jones will draw an exploitable matchup in Week 15 as the Lions take on the Buccaneers.

Catches another touchdown
Jones caught three of six targets for 40 yards and one touchdown during Thursday's 24-20 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: News that Detroit would be turning to its third-string quarterback understandably made it hard to trust Jones against a tough Chicago team, but the veteran wideout put up a respectable fantasy total nonetheless thanks to his outstanding red-zone prowess. In fact, Thursday's touchdown marked Jones ninth score in 12 games this season and he only needs one more to match his career high of 10 touchdowns from the 2013 campaign with Cincinnati. Combined with his upside to rack up triple-digit…read more

Targeted 11 times in loss
Jones caught five of 11 targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 19-16 loss to Washington.
Analysis: Jones, like the Lions' offense has a whole, has missed Matthew Stafford (back), but the veteran wide receiver has made the most of playing with backup Jeff Driskel, enjoying a team-high 21 targets in Driskel's three starts. Driskel showed Sunday that he's willing to force the ball to Jones, sometimes to the Lions' advantage -- such as on a 14-yard sideline throw to set up a field goal just before halftime -- and sometimes to the team's detriment, such as on an ill-timed interception in the…read more

Catches two TD passes vs. Dallas
Jones caught four of five targets for 53 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 35-27 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Jones tied for the team lead in targets but finished averaging an atypical 10.8 yards per catch. He ruggedly found his way into the end zone from 11 yards out in the third quarter and added a 25-yard score in the fourth, keeping his team in a game it was expected to lose handily. Jones now has seven touchdowns in his last five games and seems able to produce even with Jeff Driskel under center. He could have room to flourish next Sunday against the Redskins and will possess even greater upside…read more

Not impacted by Stafford's absence
Jones caught five of six targets for a team-high 77 yards in Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: It was encouraging to see Jones post a typical stat line with Jeff Driskel filling in for Matthew Stafford (back) under center. While Jones' ceiling is certainly lower sans Stafford, he should remain a viable fantasy option against the Cowboys in Week 11 regardless of whether the Lions' starting quarterback makes his return.

Missing starting QB in Week 10
Jones will be catching passes from backup quarterback Jeff Driskel in Sunday's Week 10 game against the Bears with Matthew Stafford (back) inactive for the contest.
Analysis: Jones' fantasy outlook, along with that of the rest of his skill-position teammates, naturally takes a sizable hit with Stafford out of action. Driskel does have starting experience, having logged nine games under center with the Bengals last season during which he generated a 6:2 TD:INT and threw for 1,003 yards overall. However, a last-minute spot start against the Bears at Soldier Field figures to be a difficult assignment, even with Chicago's defense not quite as consistent as in seasons…read more

Finds end zone in loss to Raiders
Jones caught eight of 10 targets for 126 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Jones led the team in targets while averaging a healthy 15.8 yards per catch. He broke off a season-long 47-yard gain to help him get there and added a two-yard touchdown reception to give him six scores through eight games in 2019. Jones is on pace for one of the best statistical seasons of his career and will look to keep it up next Sunday against the Bears.
